Description

Discover the Ribble Valley and Fylde Coast from this converted shippon. Visit market towns of Clitheroe, Longridge and Garstang, or spend a day at the coast.

Dating back to the early 1800s, this detached, stone built former shippon provides beautifully presented accommodation, and offers plenty of charm and character as well as having all the modern comforts to be expected from a holiday home, including open plan living, underfloor heating, woodburner and wi-fi. It is surrounded by unspoilt countryside and is perfect for a couple but with the capacity to accommodate up to four people looking for a comfortable base from which to explore all that the area has to offer. A beautiful, tranquil swimming pool is available close to the barn, and private reservations are available by direct arrangement with the owner.

The property is located in the small hamlet of Whitechapel at the foot of Beacon Fell. Close to Garstang and Longridge, gateway towns to the Forest of Bowland designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is ideal for those who love the great outdoors with some of the best walking and cycling opportunities in Lancashire. Other activities available locally include fishing and golf.

Whilst the property enjoys a quiet rural location, it is very accessible and there are lots to see and do within easy driving distance. Lancashire’s beautiful Ribble Valley is just 14 miles away with the bustling market town of Clitheroe with its hilltop castle and nearby Pendle Hill. The university town of Lancaster, is 17 miles, with its aqueduct and castle. Preston, 10 miles, has many shops and mainline train station for London and Glasgow.
For those who enjoy the seaside, the Fylde Coast, with popular resorts including Blackpool with its beach, piers, pleasure beach and famous tower, and Lytham St Annes, is just 25 miles away. The Lake District can be reached in under an hour and the Yorkshire Dales in about one and a half hours, making this the ideal touring base. Local markets and farm tea shops abound or relax in a cosy local pub to enjoy Lancashire food and drink. Shop and restaurant 3 miles, pub 1 mile, family church 1 mile.

Ground floor: Living room with small double sofa bed (for flexible sleeping arrangements)/kitchen with breakfast area and tiled floor. Separate toilet. First floor: 1 double (5ft) bedroom (no door) with en-suite shower room and toilet.

If you are looking for a tasteful, cosy cottage with an abundance of wildlife on the doorstep, then look no further. The owners are lovely and genuinely care that you have an enjoyable stay at their lovely renovated barn. Information packs are plentiful and it has everything you need for a comfortable experience. A delightful and immaculate cottage in a lovely rural setting. It was a very good location for our holiday requirements and a very cosy retreat. It is the best accommodation we have stayed in, in that area which spans over 15 years. We hope to return, and thank you for your kind hospitality.

Perfect. Friendly, welcoming owners have provided high quality fixtures, furniture etc. Spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. Welcome pack, eggs, bread and milk much appreciated. Quiet retreat, but shops in Garstang a short drive away. Excellent base for walking, cycling and touring. Think we have found a rural idyll we will be glad to escape to many more times.

Excellent place to stay and explore a beautiful area. Very rural so be prepared. Farm shop within a garden centre about 10 mins away provides quality products, including bread, cakes, meats, pies etc. The property has been furnished to a very high standard and includes many extras. Owners very friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend to others. Plenty of wildlife to see from property.
