Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Set in a peaceful location, yet only 12 miles from the city of Hull, this barn conversion is in a great spot for exploring the east Yorkshire coast.

Standing peacefully in the heart of the Holderness countryside, this quaint, semi-detached barn conversion, next to the owner’s home, is close to the east Yorkshire coastline and surrounded by quiet walking and cycling trails. The cottage offers a cosy living room with wood burner, a well equipped kitchen and a very comfortable bedroom, whilst the bathroom has both a bath and separate shower cubicle. Fitling Cottage provides an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area. Take a walk along Mappleton Sands, 3 miles, which is a great dog-friendly beach, and enjoy the seaside resort of Hornsea with its museum and Freeport shopping centre. A birdwatcher’s paradise can be found at Hornsea Mere, Spurn Point and RSPB Bempton.

An interesting day out can be spent at Burton Constable Hall, a magnificent Elizabethan mansion with Capability Brown landscaped parkland and historic stables, or enjoy a fascinating visit to Fort Paull, Yorkshire’s only remaining Napoleonic Fortress. Hull, 12 miles, is the home city of poet Philip Larkin and birthplace of William Wilberforce. Places of interest here include The Deep, a huge aquarium, the Ferens Art Gallery, the Maritime Museum and Hull Truck Theatre. The charming market town of Beverley is within a 40-minute drive, and here you can visit the beautiful minster, stroll along the cobbled streets lined with interesting shops, or enjoy the pavement cafés and fine dining restaurants. Bridlington and Filey are within an hour’s drive, and inland lies the rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds which inspired the famous David Hockney paintings. Beach 3 miles. This is set in lovely surroundings, ideal if your looking for peace and quiet. Local beaches are a short drive away and you do need to drive to get to local shops. This was just perfect for what I was looking for and the host Simon is very welcoming.
