The wine and cake really were a lovely touch. But a few teabags or coffee sachets to go with the pint of milk wouldn't have gone amiss. The double room was very small and could do with a bed that didn't have a frame at the foot of the bed, this makes the room space far less useable. The immersion heater is very loud while it heats up up to 3 times per night, glad we found the override option to heat it during the day.

Response on behalf of the Owner; We were very sorry to read your comments. We do try to put little extras into the cottage, fresh flowers, wine, homemade cake, milk, biscuits for the dogs, to make our guests feel welcome. We would love to add more goodies, but money only goes so far! Regarding the immersion heater, if you had notified us of the problem, my husband is a plumbing & heating engineer, he would have popped round and changed the switch over to daytime operation, which it should have been on and there would not have been any noise overnight. Please also accept our apologies again, as we were unable to extend your stay, due to the cottage already having a booking for that weekend.

As last time, we arrived to a lovely light homemade sponge cake (I normally avoid flour and sugar) that was so delicious we couldn't resist. And a bottle of wine! Owners went out of their way to accommodate our bikes in the locked garage. And our cat. Quiet and peaceful throughout our stay - can you imagine the worst noise was horses trotting past? Double bed is small if you're used to a king-size - but there is always the spare room, which gets the sun in the morning. Lounge is lovely and spacious. Patio gets the sun too. Parking, wifi, even a phone signal. Will go again.

We had a lovely time staying in this fabulous cottage. It's perfect for exploring Exmoor, Somerset and Devon but you will need a car. The owners were very welcoming and helpful - loved the cake, wine and flowers on arrival, this really added to the holiday feel especially after a very long journey. The cottage has everything you need - we forgot to take our picnic basket and found one under the stairs, fabulous! The local village is 10-15 mins walk away with pubs and a general store. We would recommend this cottage.

A really beautiful cottage in a peaceful idyllic location..lovely homely feel and thoughtful extras such as wine and home made cake! Perfect for exploring the Exmoor area. Our only slight criticism was not being aware of the hidden wifi cost before arrival.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: Many thanks for your kind comments and we are very sorry to learn that you were upset regarding the wi-fi charge, but details of this charge are clearly stated under the property description.

Another lovely week spent at Fir Cottage, the weather wasn't as kind as last year though. Having spent 2 holidays here we'd recommend you give it a try.

Lovely cottage in beautiful area. The owners were on hand if we needed them but gave us total privacy. The beds were extremely comfortable and the linen was divine enabling a wonderful night's sleep. The location was idyllic, situated on a quiet rural road with just the sounds of the birds, horses and the odd passing vehicle. Everything was perfect for us and our dog.

Stunning little property in a quiet and atmospheric location, perfect for numerous Exmoor/ coastal attractions and glorious countryside. Amazing welcome - log fire blazing, wine, flowers and homemade cake - very clean and comfortable. Lovely view behind the cottage and probably abundant wildlife to spot in good weather. Strangely, a little lacking in basics - kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets, draining board, functioning over stairs light and recycling info would all be easy improvements. Would love to revisit for another cosy winter weekend.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your kind comments, but we would like to answer your negative points. Firstly due to economic reasons Wyndham Vacations advise us not to provide dishwasher tablets. A wooden draining board was supplied, but it is now stored in our garage because guests found that it took up too much room and they preferred to use the dishwasher. We were a little upset to read your comment regarding the light, we were only next door and it would have only taken a couple of minutes to change the bulb, this would of made it a lot safer for you both and especially for the very young child who was accompanying you. Regarding the recycling, a list of items which can be recycled, is clearly printed on the box provided by West Somerset CC, it is located next to the dustbin in the courtyard. We always confirm to all our guests, on arrival, that as we live next door we are always available to help them, at any time, with any problems or queries.
