We really liked: the beautiful lounge with oak beams and roaring log fire; the well equipped kitchen; comfortable bedrooms; attractive secluded garden; great location in a riverside village with good pub and two restaurants; excellent centre for Hay-on-Wye, the Black Mountains etc. Two (small) suggestions to make it even better: a coffee maker of some sort would be welcome; it's in a very good location for hill-walking, so a good OS map plus a couple of more up to date books of walks would be welcome. We greatly enjoyed our week and would recommend the cottage to others.

The whole house was so beautifully furnished we felt as though we were guests in someone's home. A real treat! We look forward to returning later in the year when the river walks have dried out. Also recommend the River Café on the bridge.

The cottage looked good from the start and we were not disappointed. Extremely comfortable for our party of 5 during a wet New Year week.

We had a super week in Fir Tree cottage, it was cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. Apart from the weather (it rained most of the week!) we thoroughly loved our stay.

The cottage is in a beautiful location on the Wye and we had a lovely week here. Hay on Wye is about a 10 minute drive away and we spent some great days there. Most other attractions though are within a 45-60 mins drive away which wasn't great for us with a small baby. The cottage is very spacious, the garden is beautifully kept and the beds really comfortable. The only downside for us was that the cleaners turned up at 9.45am on our leaving day which made us feel a bit under pressure as we were finishing packing. If more time is needed to clean the cottage then the advertised leaving time should be made earlier. These are only minor things though and I would definitely recommend this cottage.

This is a beautiful gem of a cottage, incredibly convenient for Hay and the surrounding area. We stayed as a family of five and loved every minute - we will definitely return.
