Spacious rooms and a full range of leisure amenities make it an excellent choice for large family holidays or group gatherings whatever the season. Just 9 miles north west of historic Shrewsbury and close to the Welsh Borders, Field House stands in an ideal position for exploring and sightseeing within this lovely region. England’s largest inland county, Shropshire remains one of the country’s least populated and unspoilt landscapes, where bustling ancient market towns lie encompassed by acres of countryside. This is an area immersed in history, with Domesday Book associations; noteworthy castles include the English Heritage castle at nearby Moreton Corbet, the hilltop remains at Montgomery and Clun to the south, and of course the splendid sandstone fortifications which dominate the centre of Shrewsbury. Whether you crave nightlife, history, culture or shopping, nearby towns have plenty to offer all tastes and ages. Oswestry boasts the legendary King Oswald’s Well, said to have curative powers, and nearby Wem has plenty of rustic pubs in which to sample the local ales; the 200-year-old ale brewing tradition can still be observed at Wem’s Hanby Ales brewery. Other notable attractions include Hawkston Historic Park and Follies, Wroxeter Roman City, Hodnet Hall Gardens and Attingham Park National Trust. Go karting, paint balling and quad biking are available in the local area, depending on the season. Shops ¼ mile, pub 300 yards.

A great place to stay for a family holiday. Something to keep the whole family occupied. Loved the pool and hot tub. Plenty of space for adults and children to do their own thing. Well equipped and very clean. Convenient for walks and a great local pub. Spacious garden and patio area, would be lovely in the warmer weather.

Our family stayed at Field house August 29th for a week, ages from 1 to 67 years. Having rented other houses in the past this was the best ever! Everything we needed was supplied, all bedrooms great and comfortable. Everyone loved the pool, the closed in garden and games room had so much to keep the grand children amused. The farm shop/cafe was great, also had a lovely meal at pub just round the corner. Plenty of places to visit in the area made this a delightful holiday all round. No complaints at all only a surgestion - downstairs bedroom was great but no washing facilities, as my husband has difficulty in climbing stairs a shower room would have been helpful, we made do with utility room! ( maybe something to add for the future )

Field House was the ideal venue for a large family gathering. Very comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The swimming pool and other facilities were far better than we had anticipated and, with young children in our party, provided the ideal entertainment when the weather was unseasonable.

The Field House is spacious and everything you would want for self catering is provided. The garden is lovely and the swimming pool is large and perfectly clean. The hot tub is a welcome addition to the area as were the games rooms. I really cannot find a single thing to complain about and would certainly stay again without hesitation.

Our second visit and no change in our opinion which is that Field House is a comfortable, clean, well equipped and spacious property ideal for large family gatherings. Our 3 generation party of 10 all appreciated the indoor playroom and toys for the two toddlers and the garden is both spacious and secure for the children and our dog. The pool area is a real bonus as is the new hot tub situated there. Early in our visit the element in the main oven went but it was replaced as quickly as was possible - first class service. We intend to return again next year, an extra 2 grandchildren by then, but still plenty of room.

Good location , but house very dated and could do with being decorated and a good clean , toilets are cleaned but not properly could do with a good scrub ! Pool area good ... not ideal the landlord living right on the door step with cameras everywhere didn't feel relaxed and bang on 11am on the Sunday morning he knocked the front door and stood there whilst we gathered our bags together , which makes you feel a little uncomfortable ! Wouldn't go again have stayed in better !!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; The comments regarding the cleanliness of the property are somewhat surprising as 13 of the other reviewers gave 10/10 for cleanliness and the other 3 gave 9/10. I do live in a property totally separate but adjacent to Field House which, if there is a problem, is recognised as a benefit to most hirers as contact and action is very quick, without being intrusive. There are cameras in the pool and this is stated in writing in advance to all hirers where it says "The pool is not supervised by others, although there are cameras they are not monitored whilst you are using the pool". The reviewer in question acknowledged that information in advance with her signature. (We actually put the cameras in to keep an eye on our own kids when they were in there). There is also a camera that looks at the car park area only. The stated time of leaving the property is 10am, as a courtesy I allowed this party to leave at 11am, I made it perfectly clear that I would be there at 11am to collect the keys and I was! Nothing adverse was said to me face to face upon this party leaving, over the past 12 months 593 adults and children have enjoyed Field House and its facilities, maybe all of the décor wasn't to all of their liking but it didn't seem to spoil their weekend or weeks holiday, its a shame this guest didn't feel the same way.

We hired this lovely house for the occasion of my 60th. We had a really good weekend and this property made it. We were wowed with the fabulous pool and the very well equipped house. We would definitely consider this property again and would certainly recommend it. Also have to mention the lovely pub, which is very close and well worth a visit.

Great house for large groups. The pool area definitely made the holiday. Inflatables, and towels all in the pool area to use. The house is dated but we liked it that way as we were celebrating a birthday and it took us back to the 80's!! The boiler didn't work but the owner said he would get it fixed. Plenty of everything we needed, towels etc.. the kitchen was well stocked to cater for large groups. Just missing plastic plates, bowls, cutlery for very young children. Would definitely return. Owner helpful and on hand if any problems.
