Lovely place but just a few minor points - dimmer switches would be good in the lounge, we found the light too bright and the table lamps too dim. A log burner would have been perfect. ( mock electric fire not the same) The second bedroom has a bath - as we were two couples - our friends had to go to the third bedroom for a shower. No pubs in walkable distance. Overall we liked the barn and would stay again.

The only reason I have given local amenities a mark of 5, is there is absolutely nothing in the local area which for us was superb as it meant total peace, quiet and nothing but relaxation at the end of a lane with countryside which ever way you looked. We had the most glorious weather whilst stopping at Fiddledrill Barn and lived outdoors from morning until the evening chill or the biting insects drove us indoors. The kitchen and living room had patio doors so we could open them right up and make the garden a part of the barn and vice versa. The outdoor space is fabulous and so well cared for. It is not enclosed and for our dog it meant freedom as she doesn't wander. We were staying as a party of 4 adults and 1 dog and the space the barn offered was amazing. We loved the kitchen and the seperate utiility room. For true self caterers, this is one of the best spaces we have ever had. Under cover parking was a boon during the hot summer days we experienced. Our only minor criticism was the owner's eagerness to get the bedding into the washing machine by 8.30am when our rental agreement didn't end until 10am on our last morning. This could so easily be resolved by having plenty of spare bedding for turn around days so that guests don't feel to be hurried out. Like I said this is only a minor grump compared to the generosity of Ian and Sally and the welcome to Fiddledrill Barn we were given. Also thanks to them both for keeping us supplied with eggs and for all the other little touches. We all loved our week.
