We enjoyed our week at Fasgadh. The kitchen had everything we wanted, the rooms were well appointed and clean. Graeme had provided excellent info on the area. There were videos available which was great. Sadly the TV wasn't very good but we didn't spend a lot of time watching it. The surrounding area is great if you like botanical gardens and walking. Scenery was beautiful too if you enjoy touring. Lovely views of Holy Loch from the living room and kitchen.

The good news first: Internet now works very well. The bad news the house was not clean and somewhat run down. Some chairs falling apart. One of the bunk beds had a broken slatted frame. Overall the house was cleaned superficial. There was a lot of dust and dirt on all window rims (inside).. the oven in the kitchen was greasy and overall filthy. Dishwasher starting to fall apart... so all in all the house has seen better times and needs some thorough cleaning and repairs. Space wise perfect for up to 4 adults and 2 children. The location has also seen better times but Glasgow is in reach with the Sound Ferry. The owner was reactive but could not help out in the short period of our stay, so a lot of the issues were not fixed while we were there.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; On Quality Assurance inspections, the property has always scored very highly for cleanliness and state of repair and there are many guest comments on my own website stating how clean and comfortable the house is. I note that this particular review scores 3/10 whereas the others range between 7/10 - 10/10, with an average of 9/10. Regarding the chairs, the first evening the guests arrived I received a text photo of someone holding the back of a chair removed from the seat. I have no idea how this happened. Maybe it was a complete accident; maybe they damaged it through carelessness. However the chair was repaired the following day. I could not have responded any better than this. Regarding the broken slat, again a photo of this was texted to me the first evening. I had no knowledge of this being previously damaged; it was a single wooden slat which was split. This is one of perhaps two dozen slats which support the mattress. It was down at about ankle-level so not supporting the main weight of anyone in the bunk; and was immaterial in terms of comfort, safety or usability. To repair it while the bunk was in use would have been disruptive so I waited until the guests left and it was then immediately repaired. With regards to the house being “cleaned superficially”, “greasy” or “filthy”, I refute this and, as above, there are many guest comments to the contrary. Regarding the oven, the wire mesh support in the grill pan, one of the most difficult items to keep really clean, had some brown discolouration from the heat of cooking as happens on most utensils. There was no grease or food matter. Perhaps it could have appeared cleaner, but I think this is superficial and most guests accept that there will be reasonable signs of everyday use on utensils. Regarding the dishwasher, I noted that one corner of the fascia on it has been broken off during the stay. Maybe a guest tried to force the door open rather than releasing it correctly with the catch. I now have to repair this or replace the machine, which otherwise works perfectly. The house was totally refurbished and redecorated in 2013 and is maintained well including any repairs to damage caused by guests. Regarding the comments on the location - I have no idea what they mean by this. The property is in a beautiful area of Scotland and the views are often commented on with praise by other guests. They chose the area to come to and if they didn't like it, that's not my fault. I don't control the scenery or anything else out in the environment. They seemed to spend all day, every day in Glasgow or elsewhere so I'm not even sure why they selected this area. I tried to visit the guests on three occasions but they were never in when I called. I responded by phone and text, I apologised for their perceived inconveniences and I immediately fixed what could be fixed without disrupting the guests, and have followed up with other items after their departure. As the comfort of my guests is of paramount importance and I feel I did everything I could for them.
