Quite the worst holiday cottage we have ever booked, Badly equipped, missing or non-working equipment, dampness and peeling paintwork, mould on bedding, insufficient seating for 6 guests. TV and Kettle not working. No DVD as advertised. Directions to site very confusing. Adjoining golf course and clubhouse have been closed for at least 2 years and becoming derelict. Some aspects, inthe cottage, could be dangerous for young children

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- We are sorry that the TV was not working and thank you for bringing this to our attention – this has now been replaced. We no longer have a DVD player in the property and we will ensure that this feature is removed from the property description on the website. Unfortunately, items of equipment do get misplaced or accidentally taken. We have checked the equipment provided against the inventory and replaced any missing items. The bedding has also been replaced and we can confirm that there is seating at the dining table for 6 people. Aspects of painting have been done due to guests not ventilating the property and works are ongoing at every opportunity. There is a spiral staircase which leads up to third bedroom and with any steps made of any material; they need to be navigated with some attention and very small children would need supervision, as do mine. The clubhouse and golf club are not advertised as part of the letting. The closure of these facilities is beyond the control of the cottage Owners. However, there is a heated pool which not many cottages offer.

Spacious, light, quirky and with 3 en-suite bath/showers this property could be a real find. Unfortunately our holiday was spoiled because vital work had not been done, such as a shower left in a dangerous state of disrepair, and replacement of other non-functioning equipment, such as TVs and kettle. The Cottage was not prepared properly by the cleaners for our arrival - no toilet rolls or washing up equipment, for example. Inadequate provision of kitchen equipment. Drains were blocked. Water in the sink caused blocked water in the non-working shower to rise. The Cottage was, however, generally clean. The owner had the shower repaired. We could use it two days before our departure. She ordered a TV which did not arrive. The carpets had been steam cleaned before our arrival. Unfortunately this led to an overpowering smell of damp in one bedroom, which exacerbated the existing damp problem leading to mould on the shower walls and our duvet (discovered when we removed cover). Mould was visible in two shower rooms. A dehumidifier is provided to mitigate damp issues that arise in a stone cottage. The shower extractor fan did not work in the dampest room (even when the shower was repaired.) There was minor damage to some items (blind not rolling, knobs missing from drawers.) It has been difficult for the owner to rectify all problems because she is not present, and service providers have been unreliable. She gave the impression of wanting to sort the issues she could, as soon as possible. We have been offered a With some work, this could be an excellent property.
