Description

Located in the handsome and lively Victorian town of Oban, this holiday apartment sits on the very Esplande.

A handsome and lively Victorian town, Oban is the gateway to the highlands and its rugged landscape of wild heather moors and mountains tumbling into the sea. Beautifully situated on Oban’s esplanade, this ground floor apartment, one of a group of family-run apartments, enjoys partial sea views over the bay and the islands of Kerrera, Mull and Lismore. From Oban’s bustling harbour, there are daily boat trips to the surrounding islands, where an abundance of birds and wildlife can be spotted. Other interesting places to visit in the vicinity include the castles of Dunollie, Ardmaddy and Dunstaffnage, as well as Torosay and Duart across on Mull – the largest of the Inner Hebridean islands. For families, there is a Sea Life Centre, World in Miniature and Rare Breeds Park close by, and the annual Argyllshire Gathering, featuring the Highland Games, is sure to be a highlight for young and old throughout the summer season. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Attentive and helpful staff. Lighting could have been better in apartment 5, rather dim in the hallway.

We were disappointed with amount of noise from road and pub. Otherwise location superb. Very disappointed with lack of wifi despite being told there was some. It never worked at all. Disappointed to discover we'd paid well above their top advertised tariff and not even for the top spec flat. Decor extremely dated and very dark but was spotlessly clean and great to have two excellent bathrooms. Laundry arrangements very inconvenient and expensive. Would also have preferred to have a dishwasher and bigger freezer. The beds were dreadful, extremely hard and all woke up with sore backs. Need renewed, felt like the mattress had cardboard on top of it. Hardly slept all week. Concierge was lovely and owner was also very helpful beforehand. Overall, we'd go back to Oban in a heartbeat but felt a bit let down by standard of apartment especially discovering we'd paid too much.
