Elm Cottage is a couples retreat, spend an evening at the Buxton Opera House or stroll the pavilion gardens.

Situated in the heart of the Peak District National Park with stunning views of the open countryside and located just inside Staffordshire, with the Derbyshire border being immediately to the east of the village, following the course of the River Dove and its splendid dramatic scenery this area has to offer with its crags, caves and spires, the the gentle rolling hills with its wild flowers and woodland gorge. Enjoy the 3-mile walk and tread the Victorian stepping stones across the River Dove and explore this unique and wonderful valley at Dovedale. The charming village of Hartington is a popular tourist area with good pubs and tea rooms offering cream tea and scones. 4 miles away is the village of Tissington with its Jacobean hall. The 13-mile long Tissington Trail is where cycles can be hired or perhaps a walk for the more energetic! Carsington Water is 14 miles away, where sailing and watersports are available. Enjoy Alton Towers for a fun day for the kids, or for the adults with the lovely gardens. Spend a day at Chatsworth House and its stunning 1000-acre estate along with medieval Haddon Hall, both near the lovely old market town of Bakewell. Spend an evening at the Buxton Opera House or stroll the pavilion gardens and river and listen to the music that is often playing from underneath the Victorian bandstand. Golf can be found at Ashbourne or Buxton. All properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 25 guests. Shop and pub 11/2 miles.

    We stayed over the Easter weekend with our 2 old cocker spaniels. The accommodation was spacious for us with a complete small kitchenette, living room, separate bedroom and a bath/shower. Shower wasn't great for water pressure but a bath was sufficient instead and relaxing. The lounge had a good size TV and wifi is available for a fiver. We were greeted with a bottle of white wine on the table which is a lovely touch after a long drive. The field was close by for the dogs and there were plenty of walks within a short drive for them. We went to Hulme End for the Manifold walk as well as Dovedale. Both were beautiful walks. Wear proper walking boots if it's raining because I fell on my face on the slippery rocks wearing wellies. There was only a slight issue with the cleanliness of the place. The kettle base was very dirty and there was a bit of grime in the bathroom which we cleaned. To be fair, we arrived early so the cleaner may not have finished but they let us check in anyway. There's a parking space right in front of the property for ease of loading and unloading. The area is beautiful with lovely rolling hills everywhere you look and sheep. We were fortunate to see lambs playing and jumping in the fields. Overall, we would recommend this property for price, location, parking, wifi, laundry facilities and ease of finding other close by places of interest.

    Ideal countryside location for tranquility, access to the Dove Valley, Lathkilldale, Monsaldale, the Manifold Valley, Chatsworth Estate/Hall, Matlock, Bakewell, and Chesterfield. Very cosy cottage, one of six, discretely designed. Well heated when the weather is cold, good carparking. Bring supply for first day or so, the best shopping, we found, was at Bakewell. At the Supermarket. FreeView TV is free. Secure.

    Shared table outside was not in a good position for eating in the sun. No welcome pack. No sky, which was included online. Fridge door was loose which kept falling off . Drive leading to the farm was rough. Pump in ceiling was noisy enough to interfer with light sleepers.could do with a bit of updating especially armchair and tv remote.

    Accommodation a little dark and dingy - some of the other cottages definitely benefited from a nicer view but it contained the essentials and was in a good location for getting out and about. The grounds were lovely. I would suggest changing the mouldy/limescaled shower head and very squeaky bed in order to keep with the stared rating.
