Fabulous location, literally park up for the week and walk. Old fashioned cottage but charming. Plenty of hot water. Clean bed sheets. Perfect stay. Could do with a bigger fridge.

Our 4th time at this cottage - June 2014, Christmas 2015, March 2017, March 2018. Issues which were there four years ago are STILL there even though I put them in my revue last year! 1. Broken window pain in back bedroom 2. Broken window pain in bathroom 3. Dirty, old settees 4. Dirty, old throws 5. Broken toilet handle This time also the cottage was not cleaned adequately. I suspect this is because the cleaners are not paid enough/not given enough time to do it adequately. We have paid over £2000 (in total) for our stays at this cottage. New settees could have been purchased with the money we have paid but they haven't. They itch and poke through your clothes. The throws over the top of the settees must never get washed because one visitor leaves on a Friday and the next one arrives on a Friday. There just isn't time to wash and dry them in that time. There was a broken glass in the cupboard. It is advertised as having a washer/dryer but it is not a dryer - which is essential when you are out on the muddy fells all day. And if you are going in July you will pay in the region of £800+ but you will still only get one toilet roll for a family of four. It's just not good enough!!! HOWEVER - we absolutely LOVE the cottage. It retains its traditional charm with an old range, flagged floors downstairs and wooden floors upstairs. We really do want to come again - we love it - but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE spend some of the money that we have paid on cleaning, repairing and replacing. Thank you.

We found Edna's cottage a lovely place to stay over Christmas, it was very clean and tidy on arrival and even had a Christmas tree provided which was appreciated . However, there were a couple of flaws which other people had written about, namely the sofas which had definitely seen better days and are now very uncomfortable, also the 'power'shower which simply was no where near. The best thing to say about it would be it was slightly better than not having any shower at all. Plenty of hot water for a bath though. All in all a pleasant stay but new sofas and a shower are desperately needed

Ednas cottage is in a lovely location overlooking the river. The cottage is comfy and nicely laid out but is showing some signs that it could do with a little bit freshening up in the kitchen and bathroom (the sofa's are past their best too). Also a bit of decorating in the hallway where some damp has loosened some of the wallpaper wouldn't go amiss. Parking can be a bit challenging, the access (to the rear of the property) is narrow and you either have to reverse in or out (and hope the customers of Chesters haven't blocked one end). Talking of which, both Chesters and the Skelwith Bridge hotel have good food, coffee and beer. Finally in an area with poor mobile reception it really could do with wi-fi.

Front door mat needs replaced, completely frayed and front door step not been swept, for goodness knows how long. Not a particularly good welcome. Chairs in garden need replaced. Cottage is for four and only three outside chairs serviceable. Same with wine glasses only three in the cottage! As with previous holiday makers I would say that the suite in the living room deffo needs upgrading, bit very comfy Cottage in ideal location, but I would expect a better interior for the money paid
