We had a wonderful holiday over Christmas 2015. I love this cottage and would live here if I could. The weather wasn't great as we arrived in the middle of the floods and the closure of the A591. This had an impact on the activities we had planned, like going to Keswick. However, the whole week was wonderful. Just the two of us as it turned out - due to the flooding. A very peaceful, quiet Christmas. Having stayed here a year and a half ago, I am disappointed to see that the two settees are still in place as they definitely need replacing. The washer dryer that was advertised as being insitu turned out not to have a dryer. With the weather as it was a dryer would have been most useful. Lovely to arrive and find a Christmas tree in place.

Lovely cottage with everything you need [except internet] in a beautiful location.Walks both easy and hard from the front door and a bus stop very close by,from which you can tour all the lakes. The addition of sky tv is a bonus when the weather is not so kind.

Lovely cottage and location, although it's never going to be private in the front garden due to almost constant flow of Chester's customers. The kitchen can get chilly, due to the storage heater not working. The bottom of the shower curtain was mouldy, the kitchen door sticks, there are cobwebs and the sofas are long past their best. These minor gripes did not spoil our holiday (the fantastic weather helped!) but the cottage had been given four stars and these things should be rectified so that the cottage truly earns those stars.

Edna's Cottage is in a beautiful location and the beds were very comfortable but it is sadly lacking in some things. No welcome pack of tea, coffee, fresh milk and after a four hundred mile journey this would have been very welcome. No hairdryer, no non slip mat in the bath. All kitchen utensils and china look as if they have come from a charity shop some years ago and some is chipped. Glass measuring jug is dangerous as the handle is badly chipped. Advertised as having a DVD player and video but there were neither - that is misleading. Wall behind hob was badly marked with grease spots. One tea towel is not enough. No boot scraper by either front or back door. Chimney pot in front garden full of rubbish. Leaflets out of date and money off vouchers five years out of date. Both cottages either side had wifi - a reasonably basic necessity these days particularly with no mobile phone coverage. Overall the inside was dated and why was there a large hole in the wall in the second bedroom? Both lamps in the second bedroom did not have lightbulbs. Some of the walls had damp marks. If the owners spent £300 or so on equipment and tidied the interior decor it would make it much more pleasant. I own a cottage which is let for holidays and I have had to meet much higher standards. Overall the interior was disappointing.
