Ednas cottage is in a lovely location overlooking the river. The cottage is comfy and nicely laid out but is showing some signs that it could do with a little bit freshening up in the kitchen and bathroom (the sofa's are past their best too). Also a bit of decorating in the hallway where some damp has loosened some of the wallpaper wouldn't go amiss. Parking can be a bit challenging, the access (to the rear of the property) is narrow and you either have to reverse in or out (and hope the customers of Chesters haven't blocked one end). Talking of which, both Chesters and the Skelwith Bridge hotel have good food, coffee and beer. Finally in an area with poor mobile reception it really could do with wi-fi.

Front door mat needs replaced, completely frayed and front door step not been swept, for goodness knows how long. Not a particularly good welcome. Chairs in garden need replaced. Cottage is for four and only three outside chairs serviceable. Same with wine glasses only three in the cottage! As with previous holiday makers I would say that the suite in the living room deffo needs upgrading, bit very comfy Cottage in ideal location, but I would expect a better interior for the money paid

Edna's cottage- warm and cosy, extremely comfortable beds, we slept like angels. Perfect situation for river, walks to Little Langdale, Elterwater, Loughrigg Tarn, Grasmere and of course the higher fells. Surrounded by birds and the sound of running water. Cottage was perfect for Easter egg hunt in large rooms. Equipment fine. Just a settee that's too soft.

THIS IS THE THIRD TIME WE HAVE STAYED HERE AND WE LOVE IT. WILL DEFINITELY GO AGAIN. HOWEVER, THE TWO SETTEES WERE OLD, WORN OUT AND DATED WHEN WE FIRST STAYED THREE YEARS AGO AND ARE IN A WORSE CONDITION NOW, OBVIOUSLY. I THINK AFTER THREE STAYS WE HAVE PROBABLY PAID ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO BUY NEW ONES - PLEASE!!!! WE LOVE THE QUAINTNESS OF THE COTTAGE - NOT MODERNISED TO WITHIN AN INCH OF ITS LIFE LIKE THOSE AROUND IT - STILL HAS OLD FLAG FLOORS AND THE RANGE - PLEASE DON'T CHANGE IT. THE LOCATION IS EXCELLENT. ACTUALLY I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO GIVE A GREAT REVIEW SINCE I WANT TO COME AGAIN AND I WANT IT TO BE AVAILABLE AND THE PRICE NOT TO HAVE INCREASED BECAUSE OF ITS POPULARITY.
