Cumbrian Cottages

The Cumbrian Regional Specialist - Fantastic properties in the most favourable locations. No one knows Cumbria better!

Lakeside, like Lake View, is a luxurious property, the accommodation is both spacious and stylish, with co-ordinated linens, stunning kitchen, luxurious bathrooms, views
overlooking the lake and a hot tub.

Hayton Castle is the main property on the Edmond Castle Estate and is a family home as it was for most of its history, with occasional changes of use during the 20th Century. The current owners have refurbished some of the estates properties into luxurious self-catering accommodation which will appeal to the most discerning guests, allowing the opportunity to stay on this historical sight, close to Hadrian’s Wall. Whatever your party size there is a cottage to suit, with properties sleeping anything from 4 – 10 guests. The Peele Tower is the oldest building on the estate, dating to around 1603, when in the hands of the Howard family, the castle was designed by the renowned architect Sir Robert Smirke and built between 1824 and 1829. Each ‘cottage’ is superbly equipped and luxuriously furnished to ensure a relaxing stay. Had a lovely family break at lakeside Cottage January 2017. The Cottage is very cosy & comfortable & is in a lovely quiet location with local places of interest nearby. For our family the hot tub is an important feature but sadly this tub was dated and the headrests were perishing. After every use we had black marks either on ourselves or on our swimwear. Also I have to mention the steps down to the lake which are very slippy & care needs to be taken.

We had a lovely family time and overall the house was very good. It was well equipped and it had been prepared nicely for Christmas. We did have a couple of problems which we reported; a leak into the lounge and a blocked shower. If there is a significant criticism it is the state of the hot tub which for us was part of the attraction. It was not ever so clean and during our stay was not functioning correctly. This requires improvement.

We stayed as 3 families with teenagers. Great location accommodation well equipped and comfortable. Lovely lake at the bottom of garden - take care on the steps when wet as slippy - could do with a notice advising this

Fantastic house for a larger party. The furnishings are good quality and these is plenty of room to spread out. Bedrooms are lovely, especially the master. There is one twin room, might be an idea to have the facility to change this to a double/king as would suit all couples parties better. Hot tub was great, although some more instructions on usage would have been good. Outdoor furniture and gas BBQ were lovely too, unfortunately the weather didn't allow us to use them! Well kept garden and very pleasant surroundings.
