Situated in an AONB, this holiday property boasts stunning views across the garden and countryside towards the Skiddaw mountain range.

This impressive Georgian country house, with adjoining owners’ annexe, stands in 3 acres of lawned garden in the farming hamlet of Edderside, a small rural community close to the Cumbrian coastline and a sandy beach in Allonby (2 miles). The extensive holiday accommodation has been restored with great attention to detail and style, retaining character and furnished comfortably. It is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with views across the garden and countryside towards the Skiddaw mountain range in the Lake District, and enjoys stunning sunsets towards the Scottish hills from the front. The route 72 national cycle way runs past the house, and countryside and shoreline walks abound. There is a championship golf course at Silloth with others nearby. The Solway marshes are popular with bird watchers and fishermen, nature lovers, and watersport enthusiasts are all well catered for. Alternatively relax in the walled, fenced and gated grounds with plenty of sitting out areas. Centrally located between the lakeside town of Keswick and the historic city of Carlisle (both 23 miles) this is an excellent location for families and groups of friends wishing to explore the Lake District, Scottish Border and Cumbrian Coast. The interesting and traditional market town of Cockermouth (birthplace of Wordsworth) is 11 miles. Shops and pubs 2 miles.

This house was perfect for us celebrating my 30th birthday with family and friends. The gardens were perfect for the kids (both young and older!) The volley ball net provided hours of entertainment as did the wooden play thing in the back garden. Overall a perfect house and location which met all our needs.

Lovely view and good sized rooms. The property was a bit tired looking with some basic equipment not working or broken. Perhaps this is because we were there towards the end of the season? For a property accommodating such a large number of people, it would be useful to have more than one set of keys.

overall holiday was okay with two beaches. We have been to churches near by. not many places to visit. the beaches are too dirty to go.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We were sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your weekend at Edderside Hall and felt that it didn’t live up to your expectations. We were also disappointed that the house required significant additional cleaning after your visit and it would be unfortunate if the extra cost of that had influenced your opinion. Obviously we will take on board your views although there is not much we can do about the beach, which we have never found to be dirty, nor the lack of attractions in the local vicinity – for us that is one of the joys of being in the countryside.

Property was in a fantastic location, well off the beaten track with great amount of space and facilities both in the property and in the surrounding gardens to accommodate the 12 adults and 6 children (ranging in age from 3 to 14 years of age). A great and well equipped kitchen which allowed us to cater easily for all at every meal. We did have a faulty fridge freezer and unfortunately we're unable to contact owners during our stay to resolve the issue, however, once they were aware of the matter the owners dealt with it in a first class manner demonstrating their high level of customer service.
