It is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with views across the garden and countryside towards the Skiddaw mountain range in the Lake District, and enjoys stunning sunsets towards the Scottish hills from the front. The route 72 national cycle way runs past the house, and countryside and shoreline walks abound. There is a championship golf course at Silloth with others nearby. The Solway marshes are popular with bird watchers and fishermen, nature lovers, and watersport enthusiasts are all well catered for. Alternatively relax in the walled, fenced and gated grounds with plenty of sitting out areas. Centrally located between the lakeside town of Keswick and the historic city of Carlisle (both 23 miles) this is an excellent location for families and groups of friends wishing to explore the Lake District, Scottish Border and Cumbrian Coast. overall holiday was okay with two beaches. We have been to churches near by. not many places to visit. the beaches are too dirty to go.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; We were sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your weekend at Edderside Hall and felt that it didn’t live up to your expectations. We were also disappointed that the house required significant additional cleaning after your visit and it would be unfortunate if the extra cost of that had influenced your opinion. Obviously we will take on board your views although there is not much we can do about the beach, which we have never found to be dirty, nor the lack of attractions in the local vicinity – for us that is one of the joys of being in the countryside.

The house is really nice although the garden could do with a bit of tlc. There were 19 in our party and there was ample room for all. The conservatory was a nice comfortable room and was used all the time, the children enjoyed their games in there and the adults met up there in the evenings . We thoroughly enjoyed our week and would definitely go again.
