This impressive Georgian country house, with adjoining owners’ annexe, stands in 3 acres of lawned garden in the farming hamlet of Edderside, a small rural community close to the Cumbrian coastline and a sandy beach in Allonby (2 miles). The extensive holiday accommodation has been restored with great attention to detail and style, retaining character and furnished comfortably. It is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with views across the garden and countryside towards the Skiddaw mountain range in the Lake District, and enjoys stunning sunsets towards the Scottish hills from the front. The route 72 national cycle way runs past the house, and countryside and shoreline walks abound. There is a championship golf course at Silloth with others nearby. The Solway marshes are popular with bird watchers and fishermen, nature lovers, and watersport enthusiasts are all well catered for. Alternatively relax in the walled, fenced and gated grounds with plenty of sitting out areas. Centrally located between the lakeside town of Keswick and the historic city of Carlisle (both 23 miles) this is an excellent location for families and groups of friends wishing to explore the Lake District, Scottish Border and Cumbrian Coast. The interesting and traditional market town of Cockermouth (birthplace of Wordsworth) is 11 miles. Shops and pubs 2 miles.

    15 family members, aged between 4 and 79, and a dog enjoyed a weeks long stay over new year. Plenty of room for all, with great meal times together and lively games in the evenings. Outdoor activities included mountain biking, road cycling, beach and bog walking, aquarium at Maryport, swimming and bowling at Cockermouth and silloth, fell walking in northwestern lakes and charity shopping in Wigton, Cockermouth and Keswick which resulted in some great bargains!! Over all a memorable holiday for all.

    Our family of fourteen plus a dog spent a wonderful weekend at Edderside Hall.The house was warm and welcoming on our arrival. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. The bedrooms comfortable and clean with hair dryer provided. The ample grounds were ideal for our five grandsons and the good weather was a bonus,sitting in the garden having breakfast on a sunny October morning enjoying the glorious view of the Lakeland hills was most relaxing. I would certainly recommend Edderside Hall,and look forward to a second visit.

    We had a lovely family holiday. We enjoyed sitting out in the garden, the children loved playing on the slide & there was plenty of room for the children to play football as well. The conservatory was very comfortable, the views lovely & overall it was a very relaxing stay. We would recommend to any family, a very enjoyable stay.

    Great size... great garden... BUT Desperately needs a deep clean - it's quite dirty. There is no BBQ so take your own despite what the website says. The rooms upstairs are more than unusual. The low beam on the staircase is an understatement and if you have small children you need to be VERY vigilant because of the floor level windows that open like doors. 4 days later and we're still waiting for our cash deposit to be returned.

    Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. Having been at the house the weekend before we can confirm the house was clean. It is cleaned to the same standard for every booking and the other Reevoo scores this year have been an average of 9 for cleanliness. The BBQ was there the weekend before during our visit, I understand that it was not quite what the guests were expecting but it was, and still is, there. Had we been contacted about the perceived BBQ deficiencies then we could have rectified them. The top floor rooms are 'normal' attic rooms, yes there is a low beam (as described in the particulars) on the stairs but this merely requires an adult to remember to duck. The windows are permanently locked with the keys kept in the hall on the ground floor. As explained to the guests beforehand the security deposit is returned once our cleaner has been into the property to ensure that there are no significant breakages and, in this case, was repaid 7 days after the visit.

    Four families under one roof what a great week we had together. House worked really well for us all and was nicely located for the Lake District. Would use property again.
