Lovely cottage in an idyllic part of Somerset. Quite a narrow lane up to the property, but if this is an issue, don't visit Exmoor, as such roads are common place! The cottage is furnished to a very good standard and the owners very easy going. The views are fantastic. If you love Exmoor as I do, it's a great place to stay and enjoy an often overlooked part of the West Country. Within 10-15 minutes drive of Dunster, Porlock, Dunkery Beacon and Minehead. Lynton and Lynmouth can be reached within the hour. Would thoroughly recommend.

Excellent cottage with really lovely welcome by the owner. Comfortable and wonderful position on the edge of exmoor. Only improvement would be the addition of wifi

Positives: Sweet cottage, Lovely views, comfortable beds and furniture. Could have been perfect! Negatives: Heating for two days was an extra £20, which was asked for when we arrived. Cottage was damp and there was a lot of condensation which made my daughter very wheezy. The heating went off early on the first night there - we had no control over the heating as it was done from the owners house. When we returned from an early outing on Sunday morning at about 10.30 there was no heat on at all and cottage cold. We lit wood burner but soon ran out of wood as only a few pieces allowed complimentary and there was nowhere to get any more wood from on the premises, we would have been happpy to buy some more from the owner. No Dishwasher and the cutlery, plates and saucepans could have done with being run through a dishwasher for a good clean. I feel that this potentially lovely cottage in an amazing setting is let down by the owner either trying to 'save a few bob' or make a bit more on top of the rental price.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. There is a fuel supplement of £20 per short break (October – April) payable directly to the Owner and this is clearly stated within the property description on the website. In relation to your comment about the Cottage being damp, this is the first complaint we have had in 4 years. In our experience, condensation forms on the windows when the cottage gets too hot. Should you have asked for the heating to be on for longer during your stay, we would have done this for you. As stated on the website, the “initial fuel is included”. If extra wood had been required, you would have only had to contact ourselves to ask for some or we would have been happy to direct you to the local suppliers. The property does not advertise a dishwasher. In relation to cutlery, plates and saucepans; we have never received a complaint about the cleanliness of these items in 4 years. Our cleaning regime has never changed and we work hard to provide a Cottage that is cleaned and presented to a high standard for all our guests.
