One of two pretty courtyard cottages positioned high above Ullswater with lovely views and walks from the door.

These two delightful cottages stand high on the fellside adjacent to the Cumbrian Way, with superb views across the valley to the hills around Ullswater. Converted from traditional stone barns overlooking a cobbled courtyard, they are attractive and comfortable and make a wonderful holiday base. Experience Lakeland at its best, with every kind of outdoor activity on hand. Bank House Barns are a haven away from the stresses and strains of everyday living and ideal for anyone looking to spend some time amidst the peace and quiet of beautiful scenery. Walk straight out on to the fells from your cottage door, or go pony trekking and see the sights from a different angle (book at nearby Rookin House). Enjoy boating and sailing on Ullswater or take in the magnificent scenery on a launch trip up the lake. A region which offers something for everyone, whichever season you choose to visit – in the winter months, why not join the Lake District ski club and ski on Raise. For enjoyable days out, there are plenty of places to visit, including Aira Force waterfall, Wetheriggs Pottery Museum and Penrith Castle. Also in the area surrounding Penrith is the wonderful Rheged Discovery Centre, Lowther Leisure and Wildlife Park, Dalemain Historic House and Gardens and beautiful Hutton in the Forest. The lakes and fells to the south are easily reached or go north to the charming villages and historic sites in the Borders, a trip to fascinating Hadrian’s Wall is a must. Pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

    We have been coming to Eamont for about 20 years now and were dismayed to hear that the previous owner Roy who had made us so welcome over the years had died. His friend Adrian had taken over running the cottages while we were here and was a good host. So we plan to come again to out favourite holiday cottage.

    Eamont was really lovely. A little tricky to find and a a bit expensive for what it was, but being in a very popular tourist area understandable. Secluded and quiet. The host was wonderful and friendly.

    Had a lovely time. The cottage is lovely, very clean and is well equipped. It suited our needs but some may find it very isolated - a bar/hotel is about a 10 minute drive. The road access to the cottage is very steep and narrow and signage is limited!. Entrance to the cottage is via several steep, crooked steps - would cause problems for people with limited mobility.

    Beautiful quaint Lakes cottage with gorgeous views, quiet and private in a less touristy part of the Lakes. Good for walking, amenities quite a few miles away but not a problem for us as we took all provisions. The cottage was comfortable, however, it is advertised as suitable for a baby with a cot provided. But our visit was in January and the temperature was below freezing. The heating went off at night and didn't come back on until early morning. There was a small electric heater as back up but it wasn't warm enough for the baby and she woke up several times in the night as she was cold. The party on the bedroom without the heart were also cold and there were no extra blankets, except one thin one in a wardrobe.We were not told of a thermostat to control the heating ourselves so we presumed it was centrally controlled. For the price we paid for an out of season stay we expected at least for it to be warm and suitable for a small baby. The high chair was also dirty and we were not told where it was kept or the extra blanket. For this reason I wouldn't stay there again in the winter. The cottage also accepts dogs but states they are not allowed upstairs, which is right that they do not to go in bedrooms, but as the lounge is located upstairs and most dogs sit with their owners in communal areas, it is unrealistic to state they are not allowed in the lounge, expecting owners to leave them downstairs in the kitchen.
