Set in the Exe Valley, and very accessible from major roads, are these beautiful properties which all offer the perfect holiday retreat, all or part of the complex can be booked for large groups, parties or family gatherings. The four properties can accommodate up to 99 guests when booked together. It would make an ideal venue for a wedding, with facilities allowing up to 130 guests to attend, by arrangement. With the River Exe, Devonshire Heartland, Somerset and the North Devon coastline on your doorstep, the properties are situated in an excellent countryside location offering a good base to explore the beautiful area and are within easy driving distance of Exmoor National Park and the Devon and Somerset border.
Golf, horse riding, cycling and fishing are available locally, and clay pigeon shooting, fly fishing and river salmon fishing can be arranged locally. Rod hire available. Many delightful scenic countryside walks can be found from your doorstep including the spectacular scenic coast between Minehead and Combe Martin. Tiverton, 7 miles, offers a selection of shops, restaurants and pubs as well as the famous Grand Western Canal and Bickleigh Castle.
The nearest coast with sandy beaches and family attractions including Somerset World and West Somerset scenic steam railway is at the seaside resort of Minehead. The medieval town of Dunster with its magnificent castle, deer park and mill and the historic cathedral city of Exeter with its variety of shops, restaurants, theatres, race course and the Maritime Museum are both 20 miles away.
Delightful Bickleigh, 8 miles, has lovely thatched inns overlooking the river serving good food and local ales, the perfect location to get away from it all. Taunton, Ilfracombe, Sidmouth, Seaton and Exmouth within easy driving distance. NT properties within easy reach include, Knightshayes Court, Powderham Castle and Castle Drogo to name a few. Brampton, 2 miles, where sailing is available at nearby Wimbleball Lake. Shop 1½ miles, pub ¼ mile.

    Really lovely family holiday. We have been on several large family holidays to various places but this was one of the best for quality family time. We played rounders in one of the large fields near the property and games in the evenings. There is lots of attractions in surrounding areas. The property suited us, although one of the kitchens had a lot of flies but this was being dealt with by the owners. The owners were on site and very approachable should we have had any problems. We will definitely book again.

    Our large group really enjoyed staying here. The owner was very lovely and welcoming and her daughters showed our little group of eager kids endless patience when it came to the (seemingly) endless bunny petting that was on offer. The cottage is very large and offers great space for togetherness as well as little pockets for more individual quiet time. Although not a negative mark against the cottage owners, I would recommend that potentials read the notes very carefully before they book as there are no towels provided (I believe these can booked for a fee). I neglected to read that part but mainly because I have never booked a cottage that didn't provide towels. In our case we had to make a dash to the local 24 Tesco to get stocked up on towels. Also, please make sure that you bring a decent stock of cleaning wipes (or something similar) for the cleanup afterwards as I don't believe there are too many cleaning products in the cottage. Other than these (and, again, these aren't negatives towards the owners but more aimed as advice to potential bookers) I would highly recommend the cottage and especially if you have a large group.

    Booked here for Christmas, 7 adults, 6 children, so accomodation fine, but only realised a week before that we had to pay £100 a week for heating (christmas, therefore winter and necessary), also £100 'security deposit', never had that before and pay extra for towel hire. Owner very friendly, but every time we asked for things eg cafetiere, pan scourer, surely basic items, the reply was that they used to supply them but people keep taking them away or breaking them. The worst thing was having no broom, only dustpan and brush, or vacuum cleaner. I was therefore rather taken aback to be told that £20 of my security was being witheld as they had to get on their hand and knees to scrub the kitchen floor after we had left. it was useful having 2 kitchens, so 2 hobs, ovens and fridges, however would be better to have only one washing machine, but a dryer as well. Very difficult to dry children's clothes on radiators. Overall the cottage was quite tired, every time someone sat on the settees feathers floated out of them, and some of the curtains were hanging off the rails, the hooks were only plastic, but the curtains quite heavy (you can now get metal hooks). Recycling system could be made clearer, realise that as it was Christmas no collection had been made, but was quite a trek to take everything, would be better to have separate bins outside each house. Beautiful area, shame the closest pub was closed down, and the children enjoyed the lake and the home made swing. All in all we enjoyed it, but It proves the saying 'you get what you pay for'

    Response on behalf of the owner; I'm pleased that you had a good stay. Unfortunately we felt the property was left in an unreasonable condition as regards to its cleanliness,we had to shampoo the carpet in some areas and scrub the kitchen floors. As regards to the rubbish area it is away from the properties to make collection for lorries easier and keep any rubbish away from the properties,we do have weekly collections and we feel large unsightly containers outside the houses isn't practical and may cause a bad smell in the warmer months.It is only a minutes walk away. We do ask people to do there best with the recycling.All of our properties are stocked with basic gadgets as the more complicated and fancy gadgets were continuously broken and it now makes sense to keep things simple as we couldn't afford to keep replacing expensive item. As you know we have someone available 24 hours a day, should you have felt you needed a brush or anything you only have to ask.The properties are quite large and occasionally between a change over something may get missed, but again you only need to bring it to our attention and we will do our best to resolve any issues asap, by doing this it also improves future stays for other guests.The standard heating/electric charge was clearly stated with the agents that you booked with.
