Scottish Cottages

The Scottish Regional Specialist - Fantastic properties in the most favourable locations. No one knows Scotland better!

Close to Dunkeld village, this single-storey cottage is in an ideal position for exploring the area.

In the heart of Perthshire, nestling quietly on a private, 1,200-acre estate in the mighty Tay Valley, this comfortable holiday cottage enjoys far-reaching views over a patchwork of farm and woodland. Dunmore Bothy is a detached, single-storey cottage with smart colour co-ordinated interiors which have been well-furnished. Visitors have access to a network of over 6 miles of private estate roads covering the extensive grounds, which include a fold of highland cattle, and two small lochs, home to wild ducks and geese.
At the nearby Loch of Lowes, a visit to the bird hides is often rewarded by sightings of osprey soaring high overhead. Historic Dunkeld village, 3 miles, is one of Perthshire’s gems, with a part-ruined cathedral, good shops and restaurants. Perth, 16 miles, offers large areas of green parkland, where sports matches, boating and putting can be enjoyed. The town boasts numerous museums and art galleries, including the museum of the Black Watch, housed in Balhousie Castle. Edinburgh and Aberdeen within 90 minutes’ drive. Glasgow is also within driving distance and is a paradise for art lovers – the many museums include the Gallery of Modern Art, the Mackintosh Interpretation Centre and the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. More unusual attractions include the Transport Museum, the Botanic Gardens and The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour. Shops, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
Dunmore Bothy can be booked together with Laundry Cottage (UJP), The Coach House (UKT), Stable Cottage (UME) and Beaters Cottage to accommodate up to 17 guests.

We loved out stay at the Dunmore Bothy, it felt like home away from home. It was a perfect chocolate box cottage to enjoy the nature and its tranquillity. The cottage was well equipped, and the owners had thought about everything from hand wash to washer/dryer. We were welcomed with a nice bottle of wine, chocolates and fresh flowers. It is difficult to fault the cottage and facilities offered, however, if I am being pernickety, the sofa can be replaced with a bigger one, and the living space can be decluttered to match the spacious, nice and crisp bedroom. It would be very helpful to have a dishwasher, some breakfast bowls and wi-fi access as the network coverage is extremely poor in the area. Enclosed garden would be great as it would give the dogs a chance to run around, as dogs are not allowed off the lead within the estate for obvious reasons.

Wonderful cottage and the wildlife was amazing.I think the electricity charges which are on top of rental are a bit much should be included in price.
