Description

Close to Dunkeld village, this single-storey cottage is in an ideal position for exploring the area.

In the heart of Perthshire, nestling quietly on a private, 1,200-acre estate in the mighty Tay Valley, this comfortable holiday cottage enjoys far-reaching views over a patchwork of farm and woodland. Dunmore Bothy is a detached, single-storey cottage with smart colour co-ordinated interiors which have been well-furnished. Visitors have access to a network of over 6 miles of private estate roads covering the extensive grounds, which include a fold of highland cattle, and two small lochs, home to wild ducks and geese. Boat trips can be arranged to fish for brown trout, as well as angling on the River Tay, with some of Scotland’s finest salmon fishing.
At the nearby Loch of Lowes, a visit to the bird hides is often rewarded by sightings of osprey soaring high overhead. Historic Dunkeld village, 3 miles is one of Perthshire’s gems, with a part-ruined cathedral, good shops and restaurants. Perth, 16 miles, offers large areas of green parkland, where sports matches, boating and putting can be enjoyed. The town boasts numerous museums and art galleries, including the museum of the Black Watch, housed in Balhousie Castle. Edinburgh and Aberdeen within 90 minutes’ drive. Glasgow is also within driving distance and is a paradise for art lovers – the many museums include the Gallery of Modern Art, the Mackintosh Interpretation Centre and the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. More unusual attractions include the Transport Museum, the Botanic Gardens and The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour. Shops, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
Dunmore Bothy can be booked together with Laundry Cottage (UJP), The Coach House (UKT) and Stable Cottage (UME) to accommodate up to 15 guests.

Lovely location but we felt the property was not comfortable for winter stay. The first morning we found a dead mouse in a trap! I expect our dog had pulled it out from kitchen area!! The house was very cold especially the bedroom. The electric blankets on the bed were no longer efficient . Finally there was no connection available for the DVD player to work. Although this matter was dealt with by the proprietor . Overall the area is superb and we had lovely days and when we built the fire up in the evening we were able to stay warm. Suggestion would be a wood burning stove to heat whole house as the very old storage heaters and open fire struggle to sustain an ambient temperature
