Description

This unique conversion, attached to a traditional farmhouse, is nestled in countryside with lovely views down the Duddon Valley.

Duddon Mews is a traditional Lakeland hideaway, attached to the owner’s farmhouse, and enjoying an idyllic rural location tucked away in the Duddon Valley. Arranged on two floors, there is an open-plan living/dining room/kitchen on the ground floor, while an external stone staircase leading to the first floor gives access to a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. A truly unique property, lovingly restored to provide comfortable holiday accommodation. The Duddon Valley is a jewel in the crown of Cumbria, situated between Coniston and Eskdale, remote, unspoilt and perhaps the most idyllic corner of the Lake District. The Duddon Valley will delight walkers, moutain bikers, climbers, nature lovers and those who enjoy the peace and beauty of the countryside. The tiny villages of Ulpha and Seathwaite are two focal points of the valley. At Ulpha there is a post office/village shop, while Seathwaite, situated near the end of the ancient Walna Scar road, boasts a 16th-century inn, where good home-cooked food, real ales and a warm welcome await, all day all year. The property is surrounded by moorland, with wonderful views up the valley and walks from the door. Conveniently located for Ulpha, Eskdale, Boot, Seathwaite and Broughton-in-Furness. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with beam. External stone stairs to first floor: Double bedroom, en-suite shower room and toilet.

Electric woodburner in living room included. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Satellite TV (Sky, full package). Freesat TV. DVD. CD. Electric cooker. Use of owner’s laundry facilities on request. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi available at £15 per booking. Small enclosed garden with sitting-out area and furniture. Natural grounds. Parking (1 car). Beautiful location in the middle of nowhere, pleasant owners, welcome basket-including a christmas present! Only downsides stairs outside (which we knew about) and no wifi or phone signal, Would recommend.

Superb scenery awesome views.. To improve cottage... Shower needs fixing as leaking and hard to wash under a trickle... Kettle needs replacing as only intermittently worked... And some cleaning equipment would of been nice ... Washing the floor on my hands n knees with the sponges I bought wasn't the greatest... Also toilet seat broken...But comfy bed and sky tv a bonus.... Love Cumbria and the local pubs did awesome food.

A wonderful stay in a cute little cottage with a stunning view. The cottage is situated on a farm, so you get see ducks, geese, sheep and cows out in the gorgeous field surroundings. The cottage has everything you need, make sure you pack well as the location is remote so no supermarket nearby. Went with my boyfriend and we had fantastic time exploring the lake district and coming home to this cosy cottage. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to explore and enjoys a good walk.

The general location is spectacular if remote, but the internal facilities insufficient. No curtains for downstairs windows, no side tables or side lamps and it needed simple things like a pot scourer and second tea towel. Upstairs shower was excellent but the bedroom odd. Most people stay a few days but the wardrobe was very, very large and the doors would not fully open. There was nowhere to put you suitcase so we dumped towels on the floor and put the case on top of the wardrobe. Owners have made a good job of getting it going but, for just a small outlay, it could be made so much better. More for ramblers than itinerant oldies used to home comforts. We do wish them well and do not be too hard on them.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay at Duddon Mews. We have tried to maximise the space and cater to the comfort of our guests, with this in mind we don't think a side table and lamp would add to the accommodation. Our cottage is self-catering but we do provide a tea towel in case this has been forgotten. Should you have asked we would gladly have provided another. We acknowledge the difficulties experienced with the wardrobe, but there is ample space under the bed to store suitcases without the need to put towels on the floor. Thank you for rating us high for location but the low score on amenities is a little confusing. We are ideally suited to people that enjoy the stunning scenery and have a selection of local shops and pubs within a couple of miles of the property.

We spent a wonderful time in this tiny little cottage with a wonderful view. It was a starting point to great walks far away from the touristic public places.
