What an absolute gem of a cottage Ducks Bottom is. From the moment we arrived we knew we would enjoy our stay and it far exceeded our expectations. The cottage itself is roomy, comfortable and very well equipped. I stayed in the summer house which is practically self contained and also very comfortable. The garden is a joy to behold and could even be classed as a small park. It was lovely to be able to walk round it everyday. For us, the most wonderful thing was watching badgers come to feed every evening, just feet away, so close we could even hear them munching. There are some beautiful walks which you can access from the garden and a short drive away should you wish to venture further. The Abbotsbury Swannery is definitely worth a visit. I cannot recommend highly enough The New Inn which is less than a five minute walk from the cottage. The landlord and his lovely wife are most welcoming, as is Archie their dog and the food is superb - fish and chips to die for. Down House Farm is also near by (be prepared for a good walk or a very bumpy drive up the track to it ) and I enjoyed the best BLT I've ever tasted. I would however, point out that access to the cottage is via narrow roads and the drive also takes some manoeuvring to get in and out of (Chelsea tractor owners be warned!). We certainly hope to visit again, a true jewel set within the beautiful Dorset countryside. Just sad dogs aren't allowed.

Perfect cottage, perfect location. Didn't venture more than a few miles from Eype during the whole week. Loved the clifftop walks to West Bay, Seatown and to the nearby farm cafe. My kids adored the garden with the trampoline and the treehouse, and food at the local pub is excellent. Highly recommended.

Nice cottage and easy walk to good beach. BUT, cottage cold at start of week (early July too) and very low beams make hard-hats almost compulsory. Cottage is down very narrow lane with tight turns - this should be flagged in description as arriving in a large car is problematic as is turning around once at the cottage. In conclusion, cottage would be ideal if demolished and rebuilt 10m to left, with full-height ceilings, a shower inside, and decent-sized windows letting in more light. The thatched roof could be retained!
