Drummuie House is a beautiful, 200-year-old, detached stone house situated in its own 1-acre grounds in an elevated position and commanding superb views across the sea. This large and elegant house was built by Captain Robert Sutherland, a Napoleonic war veteran. It has been painstakingly restored and renovated and provides a high level of luxury in a superb setting. All the rooms are generously proportioned, with high ceilings and large original windows. The spacious farmhouse-style kitchen is bright, contemporary and and extremely well equipped. The dining room is simply stunning, with a solid wood dining table running the length of the room, seating up to 10 people with ease. The main living room has a superb open fire and lovely deep sofas. There is a games room on the ground floor with a professional slate bed pool table. The Highland Wildcat Trail, a mountain bike trail which features the longest descent in the UK from the summit of Ben Bhraggie and the longest technical single track climb is located behind the property.
All the bedrooms are on the first floor. The two main double rooms are particularly sumptuous: one has a four-poster bed and the other a sleigh bed, both en-suite. With three further bedrooms and two bathrooms, Drummuie House is ideal for larger families and groups. The spacious and mature gardens are fully enclosed and ideal for children and pets. The holiday property is situated on the edge of Golspie, and is just a short walk from all the amenities this seaside resort has to offer, including a beautiful sandy beach and scenic walks. There is a variety of small shops, pubs and restaurants. Tennis, bowling and a public swimming pool are also available. It is within close proximity of many golf courses including the Royal Dornoch Championship Course. Sea and loch fishing, boats trips, kayaking, karting, or mountain bike trails are all within easy reach. Just 3 miles south of the village is the nature reserve of Loch Fleet, with an abundance of wildlife, including seals, ospreys and other birdlife. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

    A two notable oversights by the owners, which were to my knowledge are either resolved or in the process of. 1. Heating with air in radiators and placed on 30c at in winter maybe effective enough to stop damp, but isn't viable option to live in happily even with the benefit of a single coal/wood burning fire. Took us a while (2-3days) to understand the issue and resolve. Which the owners we good enough to arrange portable oil heating. This matter was fully resolved at the time of our stay, and I can say the systems for heating and water when working are more than adequate :-) 2. A florescent tube in the rear passageway had been reported previously and not replaced. At the time of us leaving the maid brought a replacement tube, but when fitted the starter still required replacement, but with the owners reportedly stay next at Drummuie House, there the opportunity for them issue to be resolved.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. Any maintenance needs brought to our attention are acted on promptly as our priority is the well-being of our guests. We live 500 miles away from the house and we rely on our guests and our housekeepers to inform us of any issues. Yours was the first stay at the house following the big spring clean we do in January so unfortunately you were the first guests to encounter any problems. The previous guests had had no issues. I do not believe this was an oversight on our part as we quite simply didn’t know. Within six hours of your call, we had provided you with oil heaters and within 24 hours of your call we had provided a heating engineer to bleed the radiator. We do not ever turn down our heating system. As it says in the house information booklet, the heating is set to the same temperature year round and is controlled via thermostat. As you correctly said, the fluorescent tube starter was faulty and has now been replaced. You are incorrect that the faulty tube had been reported previously and not been replaced - it had, but obviously the starter was the problem then as well which our housekeepers did not know. Thank you.

    Amazing house where you feel instantly at home. Everything you could need is provided. Spotlessly clean and fresh from top to bottom. Would recommend to anyone.

    Great holiday house. Have stayed in many holiday cottages in recent years but Drummuie was the best.

    We had a fabulous time at Drummuie House, such a well equipped, comfortable and beautiful house with a great history. Our boys, as did we, had a great time playing pool and numerous games of monopoly. The location was ideal for beach days and for walks in the hills, so many different paths to explore, our dogs were totally exhausted.
