Driftwood is a beautifully appointed property set in the Bere Peninsula with views, walks and a pool - what more could you ask for!

Located in a tranquil, rural setting on the beautiful Bere Peninsula, the tiny hamlet of Hewton nestles within a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the rolling fields that run down to the Tamar Estuary, which forms the Devon/Cornwall border. The properties are superbly appointed and a real credit to the owners. From the extensive 5-acre gardens there are the most spectacular views down the valley and over the river where yachts lie moored. The owners’ formal garden is beautifully landscaped and is home to many unusual and exotic plants, a koi pond and large, mature trees. The outdoor heated swimming pool is surrounded by decking and there are sun loungers and garden furniture for guests to relax on and admire the view. There is a large field towards the bottom of the gardens and a mature wooded valley. These properties offer complete tranquil relaxation in a truly picturesque setting - ideal for couples as well as those with children. On the doorstep are splendid walks, cycle routes and horse riding with tennis, golf, fishing, sailing and canoeing available locally. The ancient stannery town of Tavistock, Dartmoor and several NT properties (including Cotehele and Buckland Abbey) are close by, and the beaches of South and North Devon within an hour’s drive. Shops 2 miles.

Detached, contemporary, stylish property with full-length glass walls, oak and stone elements. High vaulted ceilings in living/dining room with French doors to large sundeck. Contemporary kitchen, slate floor. Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with roll-top bath, shower cubicle, toilet.

A beautifully located property with a view that relaxes you as soon as you walk in the door! Plenty to do around the area whether you are active or not . The Tamar Valley Railway line is a great way to travel very easily and cheaply to Plymouth with wonderfully picturesque scenery along the way. A great holiday even despite the English October weather !

A perfect place and location. The views are wonderful with guaranteed peace and tranquility. Thoroughly enjoyed the time spent here and would have no hesitation in booking this cottage again.

The cottage and gardens were lovely and the view wonderful. The negative to us was that on the picture it indicated that we could park outside. When I called to advise of our arrival time I was informed that we had to park away from the cottage and the area outside the cottage was not accessible by car. We were assured the distance was not far as I mentioned that my husband had mobility problem. The distance was not far but it was quite steep and was covered in loose stones which was quite difficult for my husband to walk on with his stick. If he had needed to use his mobility scooter from the car this would not have been possible. If a note had been on the property details it may have made us make a different choice of property.
