Description

Drakes Dyke sits by the riverside and has its own private mooring and use of a boat. Fantastic views from the first floor living space.

Enjoying a delightful waterfront location, this very comfortably furnished and well-equipped, detached holiday home is set in the very heart of the Norfolk Broads. Full advantage is taken of the stunning views from its first floor living room, and these can be further savoured from the seating area on the verandah leading off. An all-weather day boat is available for hire direct with the owner, or there is mooring available at the end of the garden, so you can bring your own boat.
Good bird-watching and fishing can be enjoyed from the property and a games room offers visitors table tennis and a pool table to while away spare time. A paradise for nature lovers, the Broads are the most important wetlands in Europe and are alive with ducks, geese and swans, as well as a host of other birdlife including spoonbills and herons. The area is crisscrossed by numerous footpaths and cycling trails, ideal for exploring on foot or by bicycle. The 61-mile Weavers’ Way is a long-distance footpath that winds through the best parts of the Broads on its way from Cromer to Great Yarmouth.
Wroxham, the ‘capital’ of the Broads lies within easy reach, boasting many waterside cafés, restaurants, shops, railway station and other amenities. Using the river launch provided, it makes a pleasant way to discover the region, stopping off along the way.
The city of Norwich (8 miles) with its cathedral and castle museum offers varied attractions including excellent shopping and market place, as well as cafés and fine restaurants to tempt the taste buds. For golfing enthusiasts, a golf course is to be found at Sprowston Hall 6 miles away, whilst for a family day by the sea, sandy beaches can be found along the Norfolk coast, just 11 miles distant. 1/2 mile.

A lovely place: absolute waterfront. Bedrooms are on the groundfloor. Living area on the first floor. The spiral staircase to the first floor is narrow and at the top there's a step down which can catch out the unwary. Do note the walk from the parking space to the property, and that it's not immediately clear if you arrive in the dark which of the properties is Drakes Dyke. Management responded very quickly to a request for a toilet seat to be replaced. The boat was fun and very easy to handle - but does require one crew member to be fairly nimble for mooring.

A very peaceful setting and the day boat was fabulous, we used it most days. Took a while to get used to the upside down house and with small children a toilet in the upstairs living area would have been good. Overall a nice place to be.
