Description

Idyllic location, and uninterrupted views from this charming cottage, with wood burner, market town of Pickering is close by.

On the edge of North Yorkshire Moors National Park dating back to the 1800s these charming holiday cottages are set in an idyllic location on a working farm with uninterrupted views of the open countryside in the beautiful, peaceful village of Brompton by Sawdon. The cottages were built before 1853 in the village that is the birthplace of aeronautics and where William Wordsworth got married. A short drive from the pretty village of Thornton le Dale and the ancient market town of Pickering where one can board the North York Moors steam train, sit back and relax as it chugs its way through the glorious Esk Valley into Goathland, Heartbeat’s very own village. The ancient sea port of Whitby famed for its connection with Captain James Cook and Bram Stoker’s Dracula and the elegant seaside town of Scarborough are just a short drive. Dalby Forest boasting cycle tracks, bridle paths, off roading and stunning barbecue and picnic areas easily accessed. With golf, fishing and horse riding locally there is something for all the family. The local pub serves cask ales, local ciders and pub food. Children are also welcome. Shops and pub 300 yards, restaurant 1½ miles.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with tiled floor. Open tread stairs to first floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 kingsize, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

We had a lovely long weekend here in a beautiful village with incredibly friendly and welcoming hosts. Our children loved visiting the lambs and seeing the hens roaming around. Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting, we will certainly be returning.

One of the best holiday cottages we’ve ever visited. The attention to detail with the soft furnishings are excellent. We really liked the seaside theme. We were warm & cosy even on the coldest nights. We were also lucky enough to see the new born lambs. Many thanks to Jacque & Chris.

Lovely place to stay, beds were not very comfortable ended up sleeping on the sofa.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. We are really sorry you thought the mattresses were uncomfortable. I always ask when I meet guests, that if there are any issues, to please inform us immediately, so we can resolve them. If you had mentioned this to us during your stay, we would have been more than happy to provide a mattress topper. Mattresses are down to personal choice, and very difficult to gage. Many guests have commented on how comfortable this bed is, and actually gone on to purchase something similar.

An ideal location for exploring east Yorkshire. Rural and peaceful. The nearby. award winning butcher shop with delicious pork pies is a must! Comfortable accommodation, if a hard matress is your thing but a tiny tv by today's standards and a challenging shower (water pressure so high it's difficult go get the correct temperature). Friendly and generous owners and the countryside views from the cottage are super.

Very good holiday home very cosy and private. Feels like being at home but with better views. Only one grip was no wifi because we have two young children this would have kept them entertained in the evenings and to do research on what activities to do for the trip.
