Nice spacious cottage for 2 people (would not be so for 4) Very helpful owner who could not do enough to make our stay more enjoyable. Would use the cottage again but disappointed about the heavy traffic in/around the area. Would definitely recommend.

Having four dogs it is not easy to find somewhere that will take that many. The attraction of Downsview Cottage was the fact that they welcome up to 4 dogs and there is a safe secure 3 acre exercise field to exercise them in. Lynn the owner was so welcoming when we arrived, and has a lot of knowledge on places to go with the dogs as she has dogs herself. The cottage was absolutely lovely. A kitchen I feel very envious of and wish mine was as well equipped, and as large! There were some lovely welcome goodies for us - fresh cream and raspberry cake, wine and beer, biscuits and chocolates etc etc, and also treats for our dogs. I've never stayed anywhere before that is so dog-friendly. There were four bowls and four beds plus dog towels provided. The bed was very comfortable and the sofas also. Lovely conservatory and so pleasant to be able to sit there to eat or relax with doors open to the nice little garden. Wooden floors easy to keep clean and the cottage is very tastefully decorated throughout. I wouldn't mind living there permanently! I cannot get over how much thought must have gone into furnishing the cottage to suit both humans and dogs alike. A lovely touch was vases of fresh flowers in each room, making it very welcoming. The totally secure exercise field was fantastic as one of my dogs is a hound who cannot be let off just anywhere. Plenty of space for the dogs to run around and enjoy themselves. This is without a doubt the most dog-friendly place I've ever stayed at and we will definitely be back for another holiday. But even without dogs it was a beautiful place to stay. Thank you Lynn for your kindness.

Lovely place to stay. The homemade cream cake on arrival was a lovely touch as was the fresh flowers. The field at the back we could use for our dogs was ideal. Perfect weather was the icing on the cake! The only thing I would change, would be to have an iron & board in the cottage. Although there was one in the outdoor building, I found the time slots to use it were not always convenient. We had a great time staying at Downsview and would recommend it.

I'll start with the good points! Lovely lady, very knowledgeable on area and gave loads of great suggestions of places to visit. Lovely extras like cake, Prosecco, doggie biscuits, fresh flowers, lovely touches. Fantastic field behind the property that we could walk our dog round twice a day. Now for the bad bits. The property is on a very busy road, lots of road noise. We live in a very quiet place, so struggled with this. If you're used to road noise you'll be fine. We found the bed uncomfortable, the mattress is incredibly soft. The bedroom is at the front of the property so noise an issue at night. The sofa bed also really uncomfortable, even to sit on, as is the sofa in the lounge and conservatory. Only a small table to eat from, difficult to get 3 round. All in all it could be a lovely place, it needs a good refresh of decor and a deep clean. I've taken some photos of how grubby it was, but won't add them to here.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. It does state that the property is on a main road, but it is set back with a driveway and gates - this has never been an issue for customers in the past. I have had many comments in the past on how comfortable the bed is, we always aim for a happy medium but unfortunately, we cannot please everyone. The sofa bed was new at Christmas, when we asked your son he commented how comfortable it was. Again, comments have been made in the past as to how comfy the furnishings are. The dining table is more than suitable for 4 people. I dispute your comment about the property being grubby; the property is thoroughly cleaned prior to each guest’s arrival and it was spotless when you arrived. I have customers returning year after year that are more than happy with the property.

Lynn made us feel very welcome. She gave us a cream sponge, bowl of fruit, comp. bottles of wine, vases of cut flowers etc etc . The cottage was very comfortable, had sensible easy to use equipment, and was well positioned. The garden was ideal for our little Yorkie, and she enjoyed a run in the big field behind the property. We have already booked for next year!
