Had a lovely relaxing break at donmar. Very comfortable and clean cottage. Not many channels on tv. Would take my own dvds next time. Great views and location and great neighbours. Went to book again and was disappointed to find fully booked till end of year..

Very nice and well equipped kitchen. Well located with great views to the rear, easy reach of all the north of the island.

Great location a short drive from Portree but far enough out for peace & quiet and great dark sky view (managed to see Northern Lights). The actual cottage had comfortable sofa and beds. However the white/beige carpet straight from the front door on the lounge was a pain with dogs. We had to keep completely drying them before letting them in the cottage. Downstairs the house could do with updating on the decor, as it was dated. The garden was large however not secure enough for our dogs. The fence was bent over in places and the gate at the side ours could easily get under or through (both beagle size).

We had a fantastic holiday and we loved the house, we felt it was worth the money and that it had everything we needed. It's about 7 more miles outside Portree so there's nothing around it shop wise but you quickly get used to the short trip down to the town The wifi wasn't the greatest but it isn't great on the Isle of Skye and we decided just to crack on with it although it would be great if mobile network suppliers worked on the signal as it was hard to stay in contact with people (but not the houses fault)

Stayed for a week beginning of September. Donmar is a spacious home with a large equipped kitchen. The washing machine and tumbler dryer were a Gidsend for dirty clothing after walking in the hills. The lounge was a decent size, and the three bedrooms were lovely with their own ensures. Generous sized gardens to the back and the side of the property. The other neighbours were the cattle and sheep in the distance! There are no local amenities you have to drive to Portree for any pubs, shopping etc as the local pub had closed. The neighbour Sandy was very friendly and helpful. We loved the whole area, very quiet where we were so we could really switch off from the world. Skye is the most beautiful island I have visited and we are planning to return in the Spring of 2019. Loads to see and do if you like walking, countryside and fresh air.

Not what I would call a"beautifully renovated croft house", quite basic and expensive for what it was. Furniture could do with being replaced. A good range of cooking utensils and pots & pans though. The neighbour was very friendly and helpful. Cleaner was still working there when we arrived (late) at 5pm.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. We were disappointed to read your review following your recent stay at Donmar. We have a continuing programme of renovation and maintenance - last winter one of the bathrooms upstairs was insulated and fully redone and the sofa and chairs in the living room were replaced by new ones. Previous years have seen the bedrooms upstairs insulated and freshly painted. New rugs, bedroom chairs, roller blinds, curtains, bed linen and towels were bought to make the rooms feel more comfortable. We apologise that our cleaner was still in the property upon your arrival. Unfortunately, she was ill on that Saturday and she couldn’t get help and bless her, she managed to prepare the house albeit a bit slower than usual.

Overall very comfortable but needed more sockets or better located sockets in the bedroom. Otherwise no complaints at all unless the weather can be booked as well!

Loved the cottage and it's easy access to travel around the north of the island. Also close to Portree for meals and shopping. Cottage had everything you needed and we all had a very relaxed and enjoyable holiday

A well equiped clean cottage with large outdoor area in a quiet scenic rural location would recommend.

Nice house, Wi-Fi was really bad. Not too far from Portree, where you can find whatever you need.
