Dolphin Cottage is superbly located in Wiveton and a well laid out cottage with private enclosed garden (there is a right of way for the next door cottage). The cottage is well equipped, particularly in the kitchen but was in need of a deep clean which was disappointing. There was a drainage smell in the ensuite and the noisy plumbing kept us awake at night. If these things were resolved we would have no hesitation in staying at Dolphin Cottage in the future.

We had no electric until 11.30.pm on the day of arrival due to a planned power cut.. I sorted this out with the power company. Who were very good.. I won’t go into too much detail, but after phoning the owner.. who sent a builder who broke into the meter box because he didn’t bring a meter box key , which was specifically asked for !, because we were unable to find one in the cottage. There was prior notice to this as the paperwork was on the coffee table in the lounge.. so some one knew about it but failed to notify the owner or yourselves.. The couple who where in the next door cottage boiled water for us, so we managed to get through the evening until electricity was restored. Then the plumbing and shower was so noisy in the upstairs bedroom I ended up sleeping on the settee. The next day on reading the visitors book it was noted that the last 2 occupants had also made comments about the plumbing.. with hints on how to handle the situation. So this is what we did. We put no comments in the book. We don’t think the cleaner knows that tops of skirting boards exist..

Lovely spacious dog friendly cottage with everything you could want. Well equiped kitchen, lots of nice touches like leaving tea and coffee and cooking basics if needed. Great location for exploring North Norfolk, everything was much closer than we imagined! Clean and well cared for property. Very friendly locals. Only minor fault is I imagine parking is tricky in high season as a narrow road (that you park on) that presumably gets busy with parked cars from other adjacent properties.

We enjoyed our stay, but there were some problems with noisy plumbing and draughts from air vents. It was exceedingly cold weather however. With a few improvements this cottage could be very good indeed.

Nice cottage in fabulous location. Kitchen really good with loads of pots, pans and utensils. However, if you are going in winter and there is a really cold snap I don't think the heating would cope. The week we were there (first week in Jan ) was quite mild - I was okay but girlfriend struggled to keep warm even with log burner going - not a lot of heat coming of it.

Great location. Cosy cottage, well equipped. Have stayed before so disappointed this time to discover that logs are no longer provided for the woodburner.

We had an enjoyable week at Dolphin cottage even though the weather was quite changeable. We stayed there about 2 years ago and the owners have made some good changes including a new kitchen and dining room furniture. The accommodation is ideal for our extended family and the dog with two bedrooms and bathroom upstairs and a double with ensuite downstairs. The cottage is more spacious than you expect with a large lounge and separate dining room. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of crockery etc. There is also a pretty little garden with a picnic table

I was very disappointed that towels were not provided. Upstairs accommodation was not very satisfactory.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I always telephone and inform guests prior to their stay that towels are not provided; Dolphin Cottage is a self-catering property. During the phone call to you, no concerns were raised at the time that we did not supply towels so I am disappointed that you have chosen to highlight this via an online review. As for the upstairs accommodation, the photographs on the website provide an accurate representation of the two bedrooms, both of which have recently had blinds fitted and new bedding. Perhaps you would find a hotel more suitable. I hear Morston Hall is quite nice....

We took our two young grandchildren to Dolphin Cottage and it was the perfect place - not too perfect to make us nervous but very comfortable and with everything we needed. I wish I had taken a hair dryer as it was the only thing I couldn't find. I am sure I just didn't look hard enough. Good to have the ensuite shower in the double bedroom with a separate bathroom for the children. Pre-visit conversations with the owner were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely take our grandchildren again - they adored it!

This was our 4th. stay at the cottage. Over the years there have been some changes, furniture, decor and a new kitchen! All very nicely done. The little garden is delightful and a real bonus as we take our spaniel with us. The location is perfect and the pub food at the Bell is amazing. each time we go we find somewhere new . We look forwards to next year!
