Dolphin Cottage is the ideal touring spot with plenty to explore or simply relax on the balcony and admire the beautiful views.

Dolphin Cottage dates back to 1850 when it was a former trawler captain’s residence. Set in the historical fishing port of Brixham, the cottage sits high in a pretty colourful terrace where no cars can access but there is ample parking just behind. There is a patio terrace for al fresco dining and to watch stunning sunsets. It has the most fantastic uninterrupted views out to the bay and over the fishing harbour and marina. Torquay is to your left, and to your right is Berry Head, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 40 million years in the making. The harbour shops, restaurants and seafood kiosks are just a couple of minutes away. Why not try crabbing? Choose a spot, drop your line and take in the atmosphere of the fishing port. You can also take in the view of Brixham with its colourful houses cascading down on either side of the harbour. Fresh fish is available directly from the fishmarket. With 22 miles of spectacular coastline, water sports play a large part in the many leisure activities available within a few miles. For those preferring to stay on dry land, you will find some of the most beautiful coastal walks in the country to enjoy. The South West Coast Path National Trail has 630 miles of superb coastal walking. Take a ferry to Torquay with its bustling shops bistros, cafés and the coastal zoo, or a boat trip to maritime Dartmouth, where you can ride on the Dartmouth Steam Railway or leisurely cruise along the River Dart. Visit Agatha Christie’s Greenway house, Dartmoor with its tors and quaint villages. Fine golf courses are a short drive. Shop, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

We loved our stay at Dolphin cottage. The views are gorgeous and the house is comfortable and cosy. We have three young children so the steps up to the property were tricky when bringing our luggage to and from the car but it was a good work out!

We had a great time in this warm cottage with fab views over Brigham Harbour. We liked the location and we particularly enjoyed watching two seals playing in the harbour. The cottage was well equipped apart from not having a cafetiere or something to make fresh coffee in and having a very fiddly system to play DVD's

Absolutely wonderful views of Brixham harbour from the front of the cottage. The property was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The main centre of Brixham, with bars, restaurants and shops is only a few hundred yards away. So why wouldn't we go there again, and award it only 5 out of 10 for location. We could never find anywhere to park within 400 hundred yards, early in July. The nearest car park was down a very steep hill, and the walk back up to the cottage was exhausting. You'll best buy a weekly permit, as the "pay and display" charges soon mount up. We're in our late 60's and found it unpleasant having to attempt that climb several times a day. It is not a holiday for anyone with less than decent fitness levels, which other reviewers have mentioned, and frankly I don't think we would have relished another week there. One other point, was that the front patio area had not been weeded for some while and the various thistles and dandelions growing there, gave it an untidy look. Pity, because it would have taken only about 15 mins. to clear them. To sum up,I don't think the description emphasises the fact that the location of the cottage is really only for those who can manage the hill climb. However those that can, will find it very enjoyable.

This cottage is well situated touring the area and for Brixham Harbour, just a short walk down the hill. It is not really suited to disabled or people who struggle with steps as there are quite a few steep steps to go up to get to the cottage along with the steep hill. The view across the harbour from the cottage is amazing and lovely to sit outside in the front garden with a glass of wine taking in the view. Try the Lusty Wench in Brixham, food was excellent, only small place so need to book. Worth leaving your car parked if you are going to Torquay, just jump on the ferry which costs a £1 each way and takes about 1/2 hour, bargain!! Living Coasts in Torquay is worth a visit, not only if you have children, we went as a group of 6 adults and all enjoyed it.
