We had a great stay at this cottage which is a detached house in the lovely and peaceful village of Clearwell. It has a spacious and enclosed garden which was great for us and our dog. There are good walks around the village and a recreation ground which is good for dogs to run around in and where other local dog-walkers also go. The Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley are short drives away. Highlights for us included the Forest of Dean itself, the Wye Valley, especially a walk above Tintern Abbey which is thought to be where Wordsworth composed 'Lines Written Above Tintern Abbey'. We really liked the Lamb Inn which is only open at the weekends but where you can buy a pint of real ale for £2.85 and other drinks are inexpensive. The only reason 'local amenities' loses a couple of points is that although the Butchers Arms has a lovely terrace garden with a fountain and the drinks are reasonably priced we thought the food was over-priced so we didn't eat there. Most previous guests from the guest book seemed to think the food was very good there so maybe that's unfair. If 'fine dining' appeals there is also a restaurant next door to the Butchers Arms. All in all a great place to stay and venture out for spectacular walks.

The cottage was more spacious than we expected from the photos and very comfortable and well equipped. We had a few issues with equipment such as the TV (I had to phone the owner to find out how to make it work), the heating (I couldn't make it come on outside the timed hours) and the dishwasher (it worked once, then refused to work after that). However, these were minor problems and didn't detract from our enjoyment of the cottage and surrounding attractions.

Excellent cottage for us - 4 men on our Annual walking holiday. No shops in village, but 2 pubs one only open at weekend's the other served decent food an real ale. 10 minute walk to another one and a fourth a few minutes from the third.

Dingle Rise is cosy, warm and pleasantly cottage situated in the Gloucestershire countryside. On arrival, especially with two cars, one is faced with the somewhat daunting task of getting your cars off the road, and your passengers out, when faced with only a short piece of front drive and a narrow driveway to the side of the house. The cottage itself is well equipped and has a nice garden. The WiFi is convenient but rather slow. Locally, Clearwell Caves are within easy walking distance and well worth a visit. They also have a pleasant little cafe open to the public. Also in the village is an inn where one can get a meal - but note the inside bar area is very small, though there is garden. There a lots of walks available, with Symonds Yat and Goodrich Castle just a 20-30 minute drive away.

We had just a short 4 night stay but would happily have stayed longer. Cottage is well situated - although the address is 'High Street' it's not a busy thoroughfare at all. No retail shops - very village and really quiet. Location makes travel in various directions easy. The cottage offers good facilities - you won't be disappointed.
