A wonderful, luxurious home that feels like a hotel. A great location to bring children and dogs - super cafe, fine dining pub and children friendly activities at the Garlic Farm. Also close to Sandown and Shanklin for seaside fun

Second new year spent here and wasn't disappointed. More than enough room for our extended family from age 3-70. Recommended improvements from last year e.g more knives and oven trays were evident. This is an amazing house for bringing a large family together. Well equipped, very clean, safe secure garden for the dog, warm, cozy, plenty of off street parking...would definitely return and recommend.

Fabulous cottage in a nice quiet location. It is like a TARDIS - much bigger than it looks on line and room for a large family to spread out and be on their own if desired. Highly recommended and will definitely look to book when next on Isle of Wight

We really enjoyed our week staying at Grove Cottage and the house was amazing. The downstairs rooms are so large and well equipped, upstairs was great too and the underfloor heating kept the house lovely and warm. The location is excellent for exploring the island and although the village of Newchurch has limited faclities the local pub the Pointer Inn is highly recommended, and we had a family meal with 9 people and really enjoyed ourselves. Over the years we have rented many cottages and this ranks up there as possibly the best one we have stayed in to date.

A beautiful house but with a few problems. We were without hot water for 20 hours due to someone turning off an unmarked switch to the boiler. Even the plumber said that the at the wiring was odd. Also decking planks sticking up dangerously. Windows could have been cleaner as with the cutlery and crockery. Twin room was a lot smaller than the photo,s suggested. Otherwise ok.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- We are sorry to hear that had an issue with the hot water – we have now labelled the boiler switch which should ensure that future guests do not accidentally turn it off. Thank you also for your constructive criticism regarding the decking planks. The recent inclement weather had swelled some planks but these have now been screwed back securely. We thank you for taking the time to review Groves Cottage and hope we shall have the pleasure of hosting your stay again in the future.

We stayed for two weeks in Groves Cottage. When we arrived there were several things that we were quite disappointed about. The location of the house is just off a village road, but it is actually fairly busy, so the location was not as quiet as we had expected it to be. The weather (and the IOW) were absolutely gorgeous, we had the luck of being on hols during the heatwave, but that also meant that we needed to have the windows poen during the night and that traffic noise was therefore too much fir our taste (not what we would expect in a luxury holiday cottage). The other downside to the location was that there was a gravel path on one side of the house leading to a nursery center. We had quite a lot of traffic (starting from cars, but up to lorries) each day going back and forth to the nursery. When we had breakfast outside most mornings (besides weekends) 6-7 vehicles during an hour in the morning. All not something we would have expected from a holiday cottage. The other downside was that the house itself while being nicely furnished was not cleaned properly. We would have expected a better standard upon arrival, but the floors were dirty and so were quite a few cupboards etc. We complained about this and the caretaker was quick to respond so while a nuisance not something that would not have been rectified. Overall we can say that we were quite disappointed by the cottage and its standard. Yes it is large and is well-equipped, but it ould really do with a few upgrades. The master bedroom is just one example. When we read the guestbook there were already over the years a few suggestions that the bed in the mast bedroom was too hard and relatively small (Queen size in a very spacious room). We can only confirm this. it was actually fairly uncomfortable. An better (and larger bed) would make a huge difference. Same with glasses (all were quite cloudy from the dishwasher) and better outside furniture (starting from the sun umbrella over the loungers in the garden). We were lucky that we had such wonderful weather and that the Isle of White is stunning. While we would always visit the IOW again, we would chose a different home next time.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments regarding your stay and we were happy that you enjoyed 2 weeks of beautiful weather while staying at Groves Cottage. We were disappointed however that you were not satisfied with some aspects of your stay. The cottage is located in Newchurch, which is a small but quaint village, and considered one of the best on the Island. There is a pebbly track to one side of the house with some farm vehicles passing but our guests have not found it to be a problem in the past. Our housekeeper Jacki is extremely helpful and only too happy to speak to our guests regarding any issues they have and we are happy that she responded promptly to assist you. The house was built 4 years ago, furnished to a very high standard and redecorated one year ago therefore we do not consider it needs upgrading but take on board that a king size bed may have been preferable and we may consider this in the future. Thank you for taking the time to give us your constructive criticism. Please accept our apologies if your stay was not up to your expectations and we are sorry that on this occasion Groves Cottage was not the one for you.

We all enjoyed our holiday at grove cottage. It was in a perfect location to explore the many sites of the IOW. The house was very clean, the garden safe for both a two year old and dogs. We would defiantly love to come back and hope that we have the same glorious weather that we all enjoyed

We had a wonderful experience in this beautiful house, 6 adults 3 small children, we had lots of space. The kitchen was a dream, the living room was very spacious but homely. Would most definitely go again.
