This was our second stay at Dess Lodge and we had another amazing week. The lodge is cosy, warm and very comfortable with everything you might need while away from home. The lodge is by a main road which makes it easy to get out and about but doesn't cause any noise issues, sure you can hear passing traffic but it's really not disruptive at all, even at night. Shops, restaurants and recycle points are local and the whole area is just beautiful. I'm certain we will stay again.

It was a lovely place to stay but bear in mind it is very cold and drafty - lots of cracks and gaps in windows and doors. The location is great if you don’t mind driving to many places (we didn’t mind!). Recycling is a bit inconvenient and a 30 mile round trip for plastics and things. Traffic isn’t bad at all... If you’re a light sleeper or used to silent countryside then take earplugs. Definitely recommend a trip to the Dinner Nature Reserve, Ballater and Aboyne. Lots of good walks and golf, and very convenient for lots of walks. Wouldn’t stay here again personally but it is a lovely little place and would definitely recommend for the warmer months... Has everything you need!

We stayed in March 2018 Lots of snow still around the place was warm clean and tidy with all the amenities you will need. If you cant deal with traffic noise this is not the place for you, as you are on the side of the main road. Shops within 4 miles, logs and coal at the garage. we didn't eat out so cant comment about local food. One gripe only, although there was a couple of logs and a few bits of coal made up in the fire it would not have lasted long so a good basket of logs and a scuttle of coal for the first night would have been brilliant. To be fair if that's all I can find to moan about then this place clearly is a winner.... IT WAS, WE LOVED IT
