What a gem of a cottage. Although it is smaller than some, the care taken over the design means that it feels much larger. Nearest pub is about 20 minutes away, and it's a lovely walk to get there. Kitchen is well equipped (at the previous cottage I had to hit the shops to buy decent pans, knives and utensils, but these stayed in the suitcase at Dere Street). Owners are friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. Would definitely stay again - indeed after staying the first night, I extended the stay from two weeks to three. Beautifully furnished, with furniture made by the owners. Also, property accepts cats!

Really nice cottage in excellent location to tour Northumberland. Facilities were very good and the hand-made furniture is of the highest quality. Great local walking for dogs and the Wellington pub at Riding Mill allows them in the bar area (a bonus in cold/wet weather). Highly recommended. My only gripe was the mattress in the double bedroom- the noisiest I have ever experienced. We had to move to the two single beds because it kept waking us up!

Our stay at Dere Street Cottage, over the Christmas 2015 period, was delightful. Although we were up against the forces of nature, with an excessive amount of rain, the cottage was warm and dry and fully equipped with excellent TV and music facilities and games to play. Our host was extremely accommodating and helped to ensure that we were able to host a family Christmas Day meal.
