The booking instructions said that someone would be at the property with the keys on our arrival. There was no-on there to let us in, when we rang the owners, the person we spoke to didn't even know where our cottage was and rather than sending someone over we were asked to go to the hotel in the centre of town to pick up the keys. Not a good start. The property has some nice bits of solid oak furniture in it but has very dated decor, and the curtains in the purple bedroom smelled of body odour which pervaded the room. This was disappointing and felt like you were staying in your nan's house in the 1990s. The kitchen units are clearly new, but it was not well equipped - the cutlery looked like camping equipment that had wobbly plastic handles, there were some greasy looking pans we didn't even want to touch, champaign glasses but no wine glasses, a salt cellar but no pepper pot and a toast rack but no butter dish. the guest book has an entry from 2013 in which someone asks for some egg cups - still none in 2016 - which made us wonder why ask for feedback if you don't act on it? We expected considerably better for the price we paid. Oh, and the toaster sets the fire alarm off, so be warned. As with previous comments, the water pressure is poor in both bathrooms and they are both tired in terms of decor with broken fixings, plus they are tiny, having squeezed two bathrooms into the space that would usually be occupied by one. Overall, Dawns Y Don is in a great location looking out over the harbour and being within relatively easy walking distance of all amenities, but it feels tired and unloved and is not worth the money being asked for it. Paint it all white so it feels clean and sea-sidy, replace the smelly curtains and rugs and take a trip to IKEA or Dunelm for some new kitchen equipment, - Cheap and easy improvements which would significantly improve your customer experience.
