Description

This grade II listed property is simply full of character and is set in a peaceful village location with a lovely garden.

These attractive holiday properties lie in the peaceful conservation village of Colerne, surrounded by rolling countryside. The Grade II* listed stable conversion (PFFH) is part of the only longhouse in Wiltshire and dating back to the 13th century, is the oldest house in the village. Beautifully refurbished to offer all modern conveniences, yet retains charm and character. Sympathetically converted, the detached, single-storey barn (PHHF) offers light and airy, contemporary accommodation. Colerne has a good selection of shops and pubs but only a short bus journey, 7 miles, will take you into Bath and Chippenham. Within easy reach of Bristol, Bradford-on-Avon and the much-filmed villages of Lacock and Castle Combe. Great area for walking. Shop 200 yards, family pub and restaurant 10 yards.

Large, open-plan living/dining room with sofa bed, triple aspect windows and kitchen area. Shower room with double shower cubicle and toilet. Wooden stairs to first floor: Gallery double bedroom with additional single bed (for +1). Wooden floor and beams throughout.

We had a lovely short break here. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped and the owner is very friendly and helpful. Colerne is a pretty village and well situated for visits to Bath and the local area.

It would be nice if the heating controls for the cottage were in the cottage. But it was a lovely building beautifully converted with plenty of room and was incredibly clean and tidy. A quite location with plenty of footpaths around. Would stay again

We loved our time at Daubeneys Stable. The cottage is beautiful and the owners were very welcoming. The village of Colerne is very pretty, the locals are friendly and it has two great pubs and a good village store. The food in both pubs was very enjoyable and there was a good menu choice. The cottage is also a great base for exploring the local area. We were able to get a bus from the village to Bath which is just a few miles away and thereby avoided any problems getting a parking space. There are lots of great things to see and do in Bath. We also visited Dyrham Park and Longleat and would recommend a visit to both. We would definitely return to Daubeneys, it had everything we needed and we had a wonderful break.

Unfortunately the owner took a holiday when we were there and as the result of that I believe the service was not of the same standard as experienced by other holiday clientele. Also, we had extra stress with a dog staying at the family house, to the extent that my dog would be attacked and could not go into the garden without very close supervision.
