Description

Brilliant area for walking, this pet-friendly cottage is situated in Dartmoor National Park, and surrounded by 10 acres of woodland.

Located in the beautiful Dartmoor National Park

Situated within the Dartmoor National Park, set back from a beautiful, leafy stretch of the B3212 and a mile from Doccombe, these three, lodge-style properties (refs W43911, 28924 and 29495) are adjacent to the owners’ home and The Studio (ref 29495) is a small open plan property, ideal for short breaks. The holiday lodges lie in a lovely setting that offer a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. There are 10 acres of beautiful, ancient woodland, complete with a stream winding its way through the land, plus wildlife ponds, granite boulders and a 3-acre field, (which is ideal for exercising dogs) and pheasants that come knocking at the door to be fed. A rich variety of plants and woodland flowers offer an idyllic haven for the resident wildlife. This is a brilliant area for walking, relaxing and star gazing as there is no light pollution. Nearby, a golf club and horse riding over Dartmoor are available. Being in the midst of Dartmoor, there are many superb walks, reservoirs, heather-clad tors and Dartmoor ponies. There are many places of interest for the whole family. If you are a keen walker, the Teign Valley is well known for its delightful woodland footpaths. It is an area of outstanding beauty and in the springtime, the Dunsford woods are famous for beautiful natural daffodils and a little later, a carpet of bluebells. All three properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 7 guests. Exeter is only 10 miles. Beach 14 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Such an idyllic place. Lovely cottage. Views out the front were amazing. Lovely grounds to have a wonder in. Books, DVDs, games and TV. Just such a lovely place and so well situated for south Devon and Dartmoor.

This is a cosy, clean, comfortable, and very well equipped lodge. It is obvious that it is well cared for by the owner who is on site. The owner is very friendly and willing to deal with any problems should they arise, though I had none. Wifi was good all week and I had no problem parking my car in the space provided. It was a joy to meet and play with Alfie, the owners dog, and to see the beautiful pheasant striding past everyday. Sitting outside I could enjoy the sounds of the stream and the birds. I have no hesitation in recommending this as a lovely place to say in east Dartmoor. I hope to go back myself.

Great cottage. Very friendly owners. However, wifi signal was very poor (I could only get an intermittent signal if I sat in the bath!) which would have been OK if there was any phone signal but there isn't. We specifically chose this cottage as my other half needed internet for work purposes while we were away so that was disappointing. The electric heaters are very noisy, especially the one in the bedroom (the timer ticks loudly all the time), and parking is not great (we had to do an about 7 point turn to get our car into the tight parking spot allocated to our cottage). Overall good cottage if you don't mind about any of the above. Nice location.

We had wonderful short stay in this beautiful cottage. The décor was very tasteful and all the equipment excellent. It was a very cosy warm stay despite the unusually cold [but sunny] weather.

Lovely comfy cottage and owner. We had a great stay, despite the weather. The garden is also lovely and the streams great fun. The only thing we found was that the parking space is quite tight - but could park elsewhere. Lots of birds to watch from the windows.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Woodside Cottage, as the location was simply idyllic, and free from the "hustle and bustle" of everyday stress! The accommodation is set on around 6 acres of woodland, and is totally peaceful. The view out of the sitting area window, is like the scene out of a "Hobbit" movie, with a small stream running through the middle of the garden, and the occasional visit from a pheasant on a morning when we feed the birds. We have never visited Dartmoor before, but will certainly visit again. If you are looking for a stay where time almost stands still, this is highly recommended.
