Description

Just a short walk from the River Severn and the centre of Ironbridge, with museums and craft shops, Much Wenlock is nearby.

Situated on the edge of Coalbrookdale, just a short walk from the River Severn and the centre of Ironbridge, this attractive detached holiday home benefits from a large sitting out area. This picturesque town, once at the heart of the industrial world, is now a popular tourist destination, and guests of Dale Cottage benefit from free parking in the centre of Ironbridge. Its many museums trace the town’s rich history and the great iron bridge itself serves as a dramatic memorial to its past. Today, Ironbridge has a wonderful cluster of craft and souvenir shops, some great bars and restaurants, and no less than ten museums spread along the banks of the River Severn.
For those wishing to explore beyond the beauty of Ironbridge, there are many local towns of interest to discover: historic Bridgnorth, a town of two halves, is connected by a unique Victorian cliff railway, Madeley is home to a selection of listed buildings, most notably Madeley Court, while medieval Much Wenlock boasts half-timbered buildings, whipping posts and stocks. Beyond the towns, the countryside invites, with kayaking, canoeing, cycling, golf and fishing all available nearby. Walkers can explore the local footpaths and hills, or discover the stunning scenery that surrounds the celebrated ’Long Mynd’ or Long Mountain. Moreover, this area offers a wealth of castles, abbeys, gardens, parks and historic houses. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

We had a fabulous stay at Dale Cottage. Very well equipped right down to a highchair & travel cot! Very spacious, warm and lots of parking. A home from home! Extremely friendly welcome in the shop & excellent location. Would definitely return. Only criticism was the cleaners arriving at 9.58am on departure day hurrying us out!

Great cottage for visiting Ironbridge with parking, ability to walk to most places, closeness to Co-op. Well equipped, good layout. Pity there is not a shower over the bath.

The house was a good property but there were some problems: After driving for five hours we needed to go straight to the cottage i.e. a key safe. We had to wait for the owner to arrive before being given the key and then find the house. There were no instructions for the use of the oven, the ceramic hob was unfamiliar and the minute maker's instructions were indecipherable (we rang for help and got it though). There were no instructions for how to deal with the rubbish although we did our best. It was chilly at start of week but we could not override the heater although there were instructions that said we could. I sat wrapped in a duvet all evening. We did not want to keep ringing the owners about everything so maybe they could improve the instructions, make the heater more flexible and install a key safe.
