Description

Part of a listed folly offering unique accommodation, peaceful gardens and a convenient location on the edge of the Lake District National Park.

Superb views

Dairy Cottage is part of the original Fort Putnam which is a listed folly. The folly was built by the Duke of Norfolk as one of a number of unusual dwellings on the Greystoke Estate. Standing in grounds that command superb views of Saddleback, the Eden Valley and Lake District National Park, within the sympathetically redeveloped fort, it enjoys comfortable accommodation and use of a peaceful open-plan garden. An ideal holiday base for exploring the Northern lakes, fells and Eden Valley, with the pretty village of Greystoke close by. Shop and pub 1 mile.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. Utility room. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Multi-fuel burner in living room (first basket of logs included September-April, extra can be purchased locally). Gas central heating, gas and electricity included May to August (£55per week, £40 per short break September-April collected during your stay). Bed linen included. Towel hire if required. DVD. CD. Gas hob. Electric oven. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Garden and furniture. Parking (2 cars). No smoking.

The area is very nice and covenient for the Lake District. However the garden is not dog friendly they have to be closely supervised at all times and constantly telling them not go on the unfenced neighbours garden or into the private field etc is wearing for them and us. The heating supplement they ask for upon arrival is exorbitant to say the least. Our days out were excellent and the weather kind.

Great location, good facilities, the charge for fuel (despite not using any) was not good, enjoyed the stay but would choose elsewhere.
