Set on the edge of the village of Snape, this holiday cottage is close to Aldeburgh and Orford.

This delightful semi-detached holiday cottage, well-equipped and tastefully furnished, is set in a quiet location on the edge of the Suffolk village of Snape. The village is famous for Snape Maltings beside the lovely River Alde, with its interesting range of shops, galleries, restaurants, cafes and of course, the concert hall which has been the home of the Aldeburgh Music Festival since 1969.
Curlew Cottage provides an ideal base for year-round breaks. On a summers day after sightseeing, walking or an enjoyable day on the beach, relax in the enclosed and sheltered southfacing garden, or alternatively, after a bracing day spent exploring the area during autumn or winter, settle down to a cosy evening in front of the open fire.
This is an excellent spot for couples or small families to discover the delights of the unspoiled Suffolk coast and countryside. The vibrant seaside resorts of Aldeburgh and Southwold are nearby with wonderful sand and shingle beaches, whilst the exciting 12th-century castle in the picturesque village of Orford, the market town of Woodbridge and the nearby villages of Walberswick and Dunwich, are also within a short drive. For birdwatchers, there is the renowned RSPB reserve at Minsmere, made famous through Springwatch, and the surrounding area is a haven for walkers and dog owners. There is a farm shop approximately 3 miles away. Beach 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile. Properties 24219 and 29844 stand adjacent and can be booked together to accommodate up to 9+2 guests.

Owner very helpful and provided a selection of lovely treats for our arrival. Cottage very well equipped, every kitchen gadget one could imagine. Let down by a number of carpet stains and a bit of tidying in the garden, but aware that Sutton Hooowners were on holiday.

We had a lovely stay at Curlew Cottage. It was perhaps a little bit on the small side for us (with two teenage sons and a Labrador dog) but we managed perfectly fine. It was very comfortable and had lovely little homely touches such as books, games and DVDs. We really appreciated the delicious welcome pack. The Suffolk coastal area is beautiful and Snape was an ideal location close to it all. Also some lovely local walks for the dog around Snape Marshes and Snape Warren, near the Maltings. We would definitely recommend Snape and Curlew Cottage if you like a cosy place to stay. The local shop (which was only open mornings) was due to close mid- September so just be aware that the only grocery shop within walking distance might now be the nearby petrol station.

We found the cottage satisfactory but very dusty. -EG: lampshades, ornaments, artificial roses in bedroom extremely full of dust. Also I cleaned the kitchen work surface and cloth came away very brown. Tea stains I would think but all over and in sink. The rest of the cottage was not so bad.
