Description

Set on the edge of the village of Snape, this holiday cottage is close to Aldeburgh and Orford.

This delightful semi-detached holiday cottage, well-equipped and tastefully furnished, is set in a quiet location on the edge of the Suffolk village of Snape. The village is famous for Snape Maltings beside the lovely River Alde, with its interesting range of shops, galleries, restaurants, cafes and of course, the concert hall which has been the home of the Aldeburgh Music Festival since 1969.
Curlew Cottage provides an ideal base for year-round breaks. On a summers day after sightseeing, walking or an enjoyable day on the beach, relax in the enclosed and sheltered southfacing garden, or alternatively, after a bracing day spent exploring the area during autumn or winter, settle down to a cosy evening in front of the open fire.
This is an excellent spot for couples or small families to discover the delights of the unspoiled Suffolk coast and countryside. The vibrant seaside resorts of Aldeburgh and Southwold are nearby with wonderful sand and shingle beaches, whilst the exciting 12th-century castle in the picturesque village of Orford, the market town of Woodbridge and the nearby villages of Walberswick and Dunwich, are also within a short drive. For birdwatchers, there is the renowned RSPB reserve at Minsmere, made famous through Springwatch, and the surrounding area is a haven for walkers and dog owners. There is a farm shop approximately 3 miles away. Beach 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile. Properties 24219 and 29844 stand adjacent and can be booked together to accommodate up to 9+2 guests.

We found the cottage satisfactory but very dusty. -EG: lampshades, ornaments, artificial roses in bedroom extremely full of dust. Also I cleaned the kitchen work surface and cloth came away very brown. Tea stains I would think but all over and in sink. The rest of the cottage was not so bad.

A immaculate cottage with everything you need, a very nice welcome pack, dog towels and a whole basket of logs for the fire,a lovely little sun trap garden, home from home.

Very well presented cottage (or more precisely a modern two-bed semi) in the pleasant village of Snape. The cottage was nicely decorated, very clean and well-maintained will all the necessities and good broadband. Access was easy with decent space for parking. The town of Aldeburgh is within 3-4 miles and has reasonable shopping facilities plus a range of restaurants with fresh fish available on the beach. In all, an excellent spot from which to explore the Suffolk area.

We had a lovely stay at Curlew Cottage. The property was very comfortable and well placed for touring Suffolk. We would highly recommend.
