Description

Enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful area, located only 4 miles from award-winning beaches and market towns.

Cuckoo Springs Cottages are just 4 miles from beautiful, unspoilt beaches, the Pembrokeshire/Cardigan coastal path, quaint seaside villages and smugglers’ coves. St David’s and Tenby to the south, and New Quay and Aberaeron to the north are just a little further afield. The three cottages (refs ONA, OWS and OWT) are situated on the owner’s smallholding and guests can experience the ‘good life’, help with their rare breed animals, meet the pet pig Ollie and let Sam, one of the horses, take guests for a pony and trap ride. Alternatively, enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this secluded wooded valley, and simply relax in the large garden or stroll through the owner’s bluebell woods and enjoy stunning views across the valley. The cottages date back to the 1700s, are decorated in a comfortable, country farmhouse style and all have wood-burning stoves. Bluebell Cottage and Orchid Cottage have a bathroom and en-suite shower room, making them ideal for families or two couples sharing. Bluebell Cottage also has a large four-poster bed and Juliet balcony, perfect for that romantic break. Champagne, chocolates and a pampering spa session can all be arranged for that special occasion. Free range eggs and home produced meat are often available, and there is plenty of space for dogs to run free, with delightful walks straight from the door. Shop 1 mile, pub within 1 mile.

Adjoining the owner’s 18th-century farmhouse, part of this cottage dates back to 1753 and, with its warm cosy atmosphere and wood burning stove, is perfect for couples seeking a romantic relaxing retreat. Living/dining room with wood-burning stove and fitted kitchen area with French doors to garden. First floor: Double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

The hosts were very welcoming and obliging. The welcome pack was very generous as were other requirements such as soap and dish washer tabs which we did not expect. The cottage was warm, cosy and well equipped. The only slight downside to the holiday was the narrow approach lanes which made dog walking rather hazardous and meeting traffic in the car could be difficult. The immediate surroundings in the farm are beautiful with an attractive and secluded sitting-out area. The cottage is well situated to explore the beautiful beaches of mid Wales and the many excellent eating places , most of which are dog friendly.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We thank you for your lovely positive comments and are delighted you enjoyed your stay. We are surprised by your comments about the lovely lane we are situated on as it is exceptionally quiet and used by about 6 cars a day. It is a typical single track country lane with passing places and is accessed from quiet B roads, wide enough for 2 way traffic. It is regularly used by dog walkers and horse riders and as an owner of 2 horses I regularly ride or carriage drive along it and the adjoining lanes in all weathers. However our guests do not need to use the lane at all to walk dogs. They have direct access to our 10 acres of woodland and field which we keep free from livestock so dogs and guests may roam freely and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of their surroundings.

We would certainly recommend this cottage to family and friends. It was comfortable , clean and well equipped. There were loads of great places to walk and fabulous wild flowers everywhere. We ate at the Ship Inn, Tresaith, Ferry Inn, Daffodils and 1176 at the Castle in Cardigan, all were very good.

Spent a glorious week in April at Cuckoo Springs Cottage. After negotiating a blizzard on the M4 I quickly relaxed after a cup of tea and delicious freshly made scones which were part of the welcome pack. Mike and Julie were the perfect hosts; nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was warm, very comfortable and well appointed. My whippet enjoyed the company of Megan and appreciated the opportunity to run in the field above the cottage. Situated in an ideal location, away from the hustle and bustle of life and within easy reach of beautiful beaches and countryside the cottage ticked all the boxes. The whole experience was first class and we shall hope to return.

We had a lovely couple of days at Cuckoo Springs. We were made welcome and shown around farm and introduced to the animals and woodland. Everything we needed was there along with some lovely touches. Very peaceful yet ideally situated to explore Cardigan Bay; its beaches, coastline and countryside.

We had a wonderful holiday from start to finish. The cottage was warm, comfortable and had everything we needed. We didn't eat out much and cooked our meals at the cottage and the kitchen was well appointed with all the equipment we needed and the dishwasher was well used and appreciated. The oven was new, shiny and spotlessly clean. We made the most of the wood burning stove and the wood was provided. Bed linen, towels and dressing gowns were provided and of top quality were useful and enjoyed. The hot water was plentiful and the bed wonderful. The cottage was modern, but not overly fussy or boutique like, leaving us to relax in our surroundings. The owners Mike and Julie were faultless hosts, from the initial telephone call regarding key collection they were ready to offer information. There were some fresh cakes and a welcome pack on arrival with milk and tea and coffee and the homemade scones and jam were perfect after a long drive. We found this establishment well thought out, well run and the owners were available if and when we needed them and discreet when we didn't. We had a pony and trap ride with them and were invited to visit and hold the new baby piglets, which we really enjoyed. part of what made our holiday so magical and friendly was the owners attitudes towards us, their animals and their care and interest in the business. The location was quiet, not too remote but beautiful and very peaceful. The Coast line of Ceredigion is stunning and every day we visited a different beach. The local supermarkets in Cardigan were useful and there was a Tesco and an Aldi. We had a lovely, peaceful, relaxing week in the perfect location, with the perfect hosts. My companion has already booked for another week next year and I will certainly return and bring my children. Fantastic break and couldn't recommend it highly enough if you would like a peaceful, warm, comfortable and well catered accommodation.

We received a wonderful welcome on our arrival. The cottage was perfect for our requirements with a welcome pack containing the things you need after a long journey - tea and cake. The cottage is very well equipped with a very comfortable bed. Everything we needed for our week away. We were introduced to the other guest, then to the farm animals and were taken for a stroll by Mike and Julie, Meagan the dog and Oli the pig. Nothing is too much trouble there. The cottage is close to lots of beautiful beaches and Newcastle Emlyn has some lovely gift and craft shops. We enjoyed our horse and carriage ride and recommend this to others visiting. We loved our first visit to this part of Wales and will be returning sometime next year. Thank you Julie and Mike for making us so welcome.
