From a touch of luxury to characterful heritage, experience one of our truly inspiring holiday properties.

On the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, this is an ideal base for those who enjoy wildlife.

Set on a Highland estate spanning 4500 acres with hills rising to 2500ft, these four holiday properties are situated on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park with a wild flower reserve nearby, and an abundance of wildlife including ospreys and huge herds of deer. For 300 years Cistercian Monks spent half of each year at this peaceful place, making butter and cheese and brewing beer from the pure springs that continue to feed the houses. Delightful 18th-century Clover Cottage is reached from its parking area via a short track across a stream. With its own large garden with views towards the great massif of the Grampians. Claypotts is a charming 18th-century cottage, is in an utterly peaceful glen at the heart of the estate with its own enclosed garden on the banks of the River Isla. Croft End Cottage, a 15th-century cottage lies secluded behind double hedges and is a romantic yet fabulously comfortable place perfect for explorers, lovers and honeymooners. Brewlands Cottage is a 17th-century, cosy, very comfortable property in a lovely riverside location with fishing from the garden and views of high hills and surrounding quiet countryside. There are ancient wild flower meadows with rare wild yellow violets and orchids. Red squirrels live around the gardens and the walls support rare ferns and lichens which grow only in unpolluted places. Walking from the door of each cottage. Excellent golf courses at St Andrews, Carnoustie, Gleneagles and Rosemount. Glenshee ski resort is 35 minutes, as is Pitlochry with its theatre, restaurants and kilt and cashmere shops. An adventure centre 20 minutes away, with pony trekking at Balmoral Estate and many castles and stately homes to visit: Balmoral, Glamis, Blair Atholl, Scone Palace and Braemar. Visit the famous Whisky Trail. Riding centre 6 miles. The oldest tree in Europe is in Fortingall, 1 hour. Shops 12 miles, pub 2 miles.

Living/dining room with cast-iron wood-burning stove in stone fireplace, wooden floor, countryside views and country-style kitchen area with granite worktops. Sun porch. Snug with TV. Double bedroom with 6ft bed, cast-iron fireplace and wood-panelled en-suite shower room (power shower) with toilet. Twin bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet.

A clean, comfortable, extremely well equipped and beautiful cottage in the most tranquil of settings. The caretaker ensures our stay is as enjoyable as possible and nothing is too much trouble. The children loved the games room and the cottage provides enough space for us to all relax in. The kitchen has all the essential equipment needed to make meals and bake (we spent time baking cakes and making bread during our stay; my youngest child's new hobby!) The cottage is a real home from home. We ere already planning our next stay there!

The cottage was well presented and we had a lovely time exploring the area. We felt the the seating in the sitting room area was lacking particularly as the property could accomodate 4 people or a family of 4. Everyone was helpful and we spent a wonderful Christmas in the cottage.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; It is true that the kitchen area only has room for 3 people to sit in great comfort, although there are other chairs there too. However, it is only the kitchen. Pease do remember that the sitting room/TV room next door has masses of room for four people to sit comfortably.

positives, beautiful cottage, beautiful location, lovely wildlife, quiet, star gazing amazing, ski resort 30 min drive. negatives, high wattage bulbs throughout (100watt lamp bulbs, 23 pence per unit) (electric &oil extra, obvious on booking) 78 pence per unit oil, (I don't know what unit means? but we didn't turn oil on last 24 hrs of visit and still calculated £6.00 of usage for that period. so calculate at least £150 for fuel I would suggest.(winter) I enjoyed my stay very much - just budget in the extra cost of fuel!
