Description

Thistledown Cottage is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts - nestling in 9 acres of grounds and just 2 miles from the seaside resort of Bude.

Crockwood Farm is the perfect choice for a relaxing seaside holiday. Nestled within glorious countryside and just 2 miles from the traditional seaside resort of Bude and its many delightful, sandy beaches. With spectacular views across the valley towards the coast and 9 acres of pretty field and woodland walks to enjoy, this tranquil retreat will appeal to all. Each cottage is presented to a very good standard and the playfield located on the top field is great for young and old to let off steam with play equipment and a badminton/volleyball net. The nearby village of Poughill, 1 mile, has a pretty church and popular village inn. Just a short drive from Bude’s historic castle and canal is the vibrant town centre with its vast array of good restaurants and bars, and its glorious sandy beaches and coastal path. In late August Bude is host to the internationally acclaimed annual jazz festival, an event not to be missed. Golf, tennis, horse riding, coastal walking, surfing, indoor ‘Splash’ pool, fishing and mountain boarding are all on offer locally: the list is almost endless so you’ll never be short of things to do! If you can manage to drag yourself away then the pretty fishing villages of Padstow, Port Isaac and Rock are well worth a visit and mystical Tintagel with the legendary King Arthur’s castle is close by. The wild beauty of Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moors is a must for walkers and nature lovers and for a great day out Crealy Adventure Park, Newquay Zoo and the famous Eden Project are all within easy driving distance. For family fun the Big Sheep and Milky Way adventure parks are not to be missed. Shop/post office 1¾ miles, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Had a lovely week at Thistledown cottage. It was very comfortable and clean. Sarah and Gerald are great hosts. We were welcomed personally which was a nice touch and they had left us a cream tea which was very welcome! Thank you Audrey! Our dog was also catered for and got on very well with the their cockerpoo Bella. There was lots of space to exercise our dog as well as an enclosed garden. Lots of lovely beaches and gentle cliff walks nearby.

We enjoyed a week at Thistledown and found it to provide everything we needed, and more. The kitchen was very well equipped and the cottage was clean and had everything that we needed. The children enjoyed the play area and the DVD library was a real bonus for a rainy afternoon. Sarah and Gerald were really helpful and perfect hosts, being there if we needed anything but not being intrusive on our holiday experience. We would thoroughly recommend Thistledown and if we decide to visit Bude again, we will certainly be booking again.

Thistledown Cottage was just perfect. Set in the rolling Cornish countryside this is the perfect base for exploring north Cornwall and is also handy for the Eden Project, Lanhydrock, etc. The lovely Sandymouth Beach is only a couple of miles away. There is a play area for children and the farm has its own woodland, meadows and ponds to explore. For those rainy day there's an excellent range of DVDs. The cottage is equipped with everything you can think of and more. The owners were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful - the cream tea on arrival was a nice touch too ! We've already booked for next year.

Loved our stay here. The cottage was very clean and tidy. The only reason for giving 9 out of 10 was due to having no direct access to rear garden for our dogs, from the cottage. Facilities are great with a personal welcome from the owners.
