We were very disappointed that the cottage is on top of a very steep hill with lots of steps that were covered over in stones and moss. I ended up cleaning them . The cottage was nice just daft things needing doing , there is no light in bathroom over the sink and mirror and it’s vertualy impossible to see what you are doing . If that was fixed I think it would be great for a young fit family but a warning should be put in advertising for any one with disabilities or elderly it’s difficult to get in or out , the step from the path to the entrance is over 16”

The idea was nice feeling like staying in a tree house but in reality it was dark with no sunlight and damp. The cottage is in need of updating. The area however is beautiful and close to lots of places of interest.

This was an excellent location for walking in the Lake District. The lodge was well equipped with quality furnishings and equipment. On the downside, it was a bit smaller than we had expected; the bedrooms were very small, with little room to manoeuvre; at the time of year we went (late November), access was also tricky as the step path/steps up to the front were smothered in leaves and first slippy, then icey to negotiate - the man with the blower came during our last day! Although there were other lodges nearby, it felt fairly private, due to the careful layout on the site. We particularly enjoyed the entertainment provided by the wild birds and we were happy to replenish stocks for the numerous feeders. We also appreciated the heating during a very cold snap of weather.
