Although Craigend Cottage is set is a very secluded location surrounded by lovely countryside thats where the the plus points of this cottage end. Seating area and bed were uncomfortable and could do with updating, the heater in the passage way didn't work and i can see that point was raised in a previous review in June from another holiday maker and has still not been addressed. All very old throughout. Other than the bathroom whole property could do with being updated Wouldn't recommend.

the cottage in a lovely private location ,but very steep drive ,needs updating re heating thats ongoing we believe as its very cold in the bedrooms needs some T L C AND improvement on soft furnishings and more curtains drab disapointed

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Unfortunately this lovely couple whom I met had a very wet week of weather, so I feel some of their unhappiness at the cottage was unfortunately due to being cooped up in the cottage with their dogs and not able to enjoy the beautiful cottage surrounding to it's full. It was discovered after they had left that the heater in the passage way was not working. Each bedroom though has its own portable electric fan heater, and each bed has an electric blanket. The main lounge area was lovely and warm when I visited and that was even without them having lit a fire. The cottage is constantly receiving TLC, and over Easter had new linen and towels put in, a brand new hall way rug, all the cushion covers were washed, and several beds had new mattress protectors fitted. I also installed draft excluders around both the front and inner door. Between guests, and when the weather allows me, I am trying to get the wood around the eaves painted. We had new in-built wardrobes in 3 of the bedrooms over the winter, and this next winter will be having an air source heating system installed throughout the cottage, as well as having the external walls insulated and the loft insulation depth increased. We are at the cottage for a week in July and will again spend the week doing DIY and giving the cottage ongoing TLC.
