We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very well equipped and warm and comfortable and very big. We were a family of 5 adults and 1 11month old who loved exploring the cottage. We would definitely go back, we loved every minute of it Our second day were were brought a cake (decorated for Easter) sour dough bread(freshly baked and delicious) and banana cake (freshly cooked and still warm) Apart from those welcome visits, we weren't bothered at all by anyone, just left to our own devices.

Large converted outhouse forming one side of a shared courtyard at the rear of the big house which is the hotel. Each of the 3 spacious bedrooms has a large en-suite which is why we booked. Bedrooms have different themes and all have twin single beds, no doubles. Lounge is part of the kitchen dining area and has adequate sofas and chairs. Maintenance left a bit to be desired with dripping taps, broken extractors, fused bulbs etc. Kitchen let the place down, it was very substandard, drawer facia fell off, nasty dirt trap under the dishwasher, cheap plastic handled cutlery and mixture of odds and sods as cooking utensils: reminded us of a student let. This is not a hotel in the traditional sense, no reception, staffed bar, lunches etc. Essentially this is a big farmhouse with the farm at the back. Cars are parked well away from the cottage which was a pest in the rain. Area is pretty but nearest amenities are miles away and local walks are through livestock on well tended farmland. An unusual cottage model that wasn't for us but had many plus points and may suit other peoples requirements.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your review. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay although I hope you did enjoy the homemade afternoon tea and chocolates, the wine in the fridge and organic eggs on arrival. I hope we did not impose with our delivery of freshly made homemade bread on several mornings. We are on an Organic sheep farm and it is quiet and rural. We do advertise that there are 3 twin bedrooms and do not mention any doubles. There are no theme parks nearby but we are ideally situated in the middle of Dumfries and Galloway for The Galloway Park, The Dark Skies, The beach, The 7 Stanes Mountain Biking, some lovely gardens and endless walking or road cycling. Guests often dine with us so they can walk home. We are 4 stars with the Tourist board and Gold Award with the AA. Cars are parked about 20 yards away but you can park almost at the front door to unpack. If guests have walking difficulties or wheelchair use they can leave the car there. Most guests enjoy our honesty bar but as you say it is not for everyone.
