Ideally situated for walkers and cyclists

Nestling in the 120-acre manorial common of Stelling Minnis and Lyminge Forest in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is Courthope Farm. The holiday cottages have been sympathetically renovated in keeping with their surroundings. All guests are able to use the hot tub in the centre of the courtyard and can also explore the owner’s 8 acres of farmland. Ideally situated for walkers and cyclists close to the North Downs Way and many other cycle routes. Catch the county cricket at Canterbury or try your luck at the races at Folkestone race course. Car racing can be enjoyed at Lydden and Brands Hatch and birdwatchers will be in their element at Dungeness, Sandwich or Stodmarsh. For the garden enthusiast, Kent has more gardens open to the public than any other county in England so try Scotney Castle garden and Sissinghurst. Castles are also abundant – see Leeds, Dover and Walmer and if you wish to visit further afield the Channel Tunnel is a 10-minute drive, enabling you to visit France or if you prefer to go by ferry – Dover is 30 minutes away. We had a fabulous week. Felt very comfortable in the cottage; beautiful location on a quiet farm.

Would benefit from Wifi as there is no mobile phone signal leaving you a little isolated

Thankfully we went with friends so we were able to enjoy their cottage. Ours was very grubby, dirty in places. Apparently hadn't been deep cleaned since the spring. Cottage was continuously full of flies. The entire place smelled of damp and mould. Very tired charity shop-esque furniture. Cleaning cloths left were brown around the edges. Towels were very old and thin. Bathmat needed binning! Bath came away from the sealant so water flowed down the inside of the walls behind the bath so I can only assume the floor was rotting underneath. For some reason the bookshelf included a copy of the 2010/11 thomson directory - fine apart from there was absolutely no phone signal whatsoever, no WiFi offered or available which seems a little antiquated in this day and age especially if there's an emergency. Owners were a little over familiar and one of them spent a lot of the time barking instructions and rules. Not particularly relaxing!!

Cottage was dirty and smelt damp, we spent the couple of hours cleaning the place properly. We had stayed there before but the place had deteriorated considerably.

Good location for visiting south Kent. There was a strange smell to the cottage which would have benefited from a deep clean. The fridge was too small and too low. Parking was inadequate for the number of cottages . It had a tired feel to it and could be so much better with a few simple improvements.
