This detached house lies in an ideal location with both Dartmoor National Park and the coastal towns of Torquay and Teignmouth being within easy reach.

Courtenay Gardens is situated on Wolborough Hill overlooking the town of Newton Abbot with views of Dartmoor, the Haldon Hills and the broad estuary of the River Teign. Newton Abbot is often known as ‘the gateway to the moors and the sea’ because of its close proximity to Dartmoor National Park and the coastal resorts of Torbay and Teignmouth. The town has much to be proud of, boasting the medieval St Leonard’s Clock Tower, Decoy Country Park, numerous other parks, Forde House, Bradley Manor (National Trust) and Town Quay. Courtenay Gardens is a detached holiday home in a quiet cul-de-sac, ideal for families, couples and friends to get together. Decorated and furnished to a good standard with a wood burner in the living room, it is perfect for all year round holidays. The dining room/conservatory leads out directly to the enclosed garden with raised patio area, ideal for summer dining, with views of Haytor, the racecourse and towards Teignmouth. There is an additional sitting area at the front of the house, and a bedroom with adjustable bed and chair, and an en-suite shower room with grab rails on the ground floor. It is situated just 6 miles from the English Riviera and coastline with its beautiful sandy beaches, wealth of nature reserves and National Trust properties. Newton Abbot town centre is just a few minutes’ walk away. The market town offers shops, local pubs and restaurants, an extensive library and the town and GWR museum. Dartmoor, with its famous ponies, dramatic landscapes and an abundance of wildlife, offers superb days out. Historic Dartmouth and Salcombe, with beaches and sailing, are also easily accessible. There is so much on offer in Devon that can be reached in less than an hour. Plymouth is famous for the Hoe, the Aquarium and the Barbican, and Exeter has a fantastic cathedral. Explore the Jurassic Coastal Path and discover places such as Lyme Regis, Beer, Branscombe and Sidmouth. There is a multitude of picturesque villages and historic inns, and there is always somewhere to indulge in a delicious cream tea. Beach 6 miles away. Shops, pubs and restaurants 500 yards.

    Comfortable and clean well equipped house with plenty of family space. Ground floor bedroom could benefit from wardrobe facility. It's a small room with nowhere to hang anything!

    This house is, overall, very nice and comfortable with terrific views across the town. It had every piece of furniture and equipment that we could have wanted - including Dvds, kid's toys and equipment, even a Christmas tree! The one piece of information that you don't get from the brochure description is that it is situated high up one of the steepest and longest hills in the area ; in the summer, and with a car, this isn't a problem (given the views, it's even a bonus) but in icy conditions, or carrying shopping on foot it must be a nightmare. Rubbish is collected once a fortnight by private contractors and there is only one bin (no separate recycling facility) and since holiday makers tend to generate more rubbish than regular residents (ready meals, takeaway food, etc) this could be a bit of an issue - we had bags stacking up for the first three days since the bin was already overflowing when we arrived. Overall though, it's a great place, if a little pricey in the height of the season. We were very comfortable, felt at home and would certainly stay there again.

    Excellent cottage, fully equipped for 8. Comfort, cleanliness, amenities full marks. My only concern was in the back garden which is on 3 levels. The second level has a low wall surrounding a patio area (about 5ft above bottom level), I feel this should have a guard rail on top. Not child friendly, quite dangerous! The level above leading out of the property has very substantial railings. For this reason I took points off.
