We enjoyed a superb welcome from Clément and Jean Jacque at this lovely cottage which is set on the edge of the Village. I was worried about my very poor grasp of the French language and was pleased that the booking staff was able to phone on my behalf and arrange for the key collection etc., however through a combination of franglise and hand gestures we managed to communicate wonderfully. There is a small Tabac in the village and we were made most welcome by the villagers when we call in for a small beer or two. On the downside the Boulanger has closed down and whilst a van delivered bread at 10:00 hrs. every day except Wednesdays, it was a bit late for breakfast if you are going out for the day. We visited Reims, Laon, Pierrefonds, Soissons and the Chemin Des Dammes where the Caverne-du-Dragon, where from 1915 the Germans invaded and lived in the tunnels of a stone quarry. The autumn colors of the forests where breathtaking and as good as ive seen anywhere.. The autumn colors of the forests in the area where breathtaking and as good as I’ve seen anywhere. All in all a great weeks holiday.

The only reason we give an overall 8 rating is that it is advertised as English speaking which is not the case, it is better to be french speaking to be able to communicate with the owner. Property is beautifully decorated and well equipped. We were welcomed and joined jean jacques and bernadette at bastille day celebrations were limited with conversation as not English speaking. We still had lots of fun though. The grounds were large and we could walk as we pleased. we would be happy to return.

We were made very welcome by the owner/caretaker and nothing was too much trouble for her. The cottage is beautifully situated in a spacious garden/orchard. The only thing which we were not happy about was that we had been told that there was a bakery in the village. This no longer exists and has been permanently closed. It was this which attracted us to the cottage in the first place.
