Set in the grounds of the owner’s home, this complex of semi-detached cottages is an ideal holiday base. The properties are decorated and furnished to a good standard. Across the road and down the hill, is the lovely sheltered beach, which is complete with a café, and if you fancy climbing the rocks, you will see some fantastic views across the ocean. Take in some of the stunning Torbay coastline, walk from beach to beach past beautiful cliffs and rolling hills, and enjoy some of the best coastal walks in Devon. Torquay is a very popular and historic town with a huge variety of things to do – a perfect place to entertain the whole family. The town centre is only 4 miles away, offering plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants. Like most of the towns in the area, Torquay is situated right on the coast, and the main town is just a few minutes away from the nearest beach - Torre Abbey Sands. There are eight other beaches around Torquay, all with unique views across the bay. The town itself is bursting with history, being the birthplace of the famous murder mystery writer Agatha Christie. It also has beautiful ancient caves containing a variety of interesting fossils, World War II slipways in the harbour and Torre Abbey, which was built in 1166 and is the largest surviving medieval monastery in Devon and Cornwall. And of course, who can forget the role Torquay played in the famous comedy Fawlty Towers. The South West Coastal Path from Watcombe in Torquay to Maidencombe is a favourite spot for local walkers. This walk has a little bit of everything - from woods and open fields, to beaches, coastal scenery and rare wildlife. Two of the English Riviera’s top attractions can be found in nearby Babbacombe; Bygones Victorian Street and Babbacombe Model Village. The property is just 22 miles from Exeter city centre. Paignton Zoo is a great day out for everyone, and is home to thousands of amazing animals and plants. Situated on the mouth of the river Teign, Shaldon is an unspoilt village, with a thriving livelihood based on the estuary. No visit to the area would be complete without indulging in traditional cream teas. Torquay has a lot to offer, there is the Living Coasts where penguins wander freely, the theatre which has shows all year round, or take a ferry across to Brixham, to sample the fresh fish and seafood. Take a trip to Dartmoor to climb one of the tors which isn’t to be missed, or just take in the beauty and travel across the moor to Tavistock, where there is some dramatic scenery. very disappointed with this holiday cottage, although it slept 6 it clearly couldn't accomadate 6. the settees only sat 5. the dining table under the stairs was a joke really as I struggled to get 3 kids sat at it there and my kids were 3, 6 and 13. the kitchen was so small that it was a struggle to do anything in there and preparing meals was an absolute nightmare. it wasn't the best cleaned property either. lots of dirty crockery etc. no hooks to hang up towels and lack of shower was a struggle when its a immersion heater for the water. the location was pretty good for getting places and the communal garden a nice idea esp during summer months when its light longer. but all in all I felt disappointed I think it squeezes 6 in so therefore you pay more but far too cramped for 6.

We found Copper Cottage not meeting our requirements it was advertisded for 6 people but the dining table was under the stairs so was very cramped. The kitchen could have been better equipped and was not of a high standard of cleanliness ie under the fridge needed a good clean and also the oven l don't think it had been cleaned for ages. We also had a visit from a mouse who chewed my husbands levi jeans and our cool bag which by the way contained no food. The lady Cheryl who was in charged of the properties was very helpful with mouse traps

    Response from: administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; This is certainly not the impression you gave during your stay after speaking with you and your family, every day in the garden. The mouse, you put down to leaving the door open, due to the warm weather and all of you sitting outside on the patio with the children. At the end of your stay, you said there was neither sight nor sound of a mouse after that once. Incidentally, there is no one here called Cheryl. We pride ourselves in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, so any genuine concern, should have been brought to my attention and if necessary, would have been put right immediately.
