An outstanding cottage in a very peaceful location. The owners are very friendly. The cottage is well furnished to a high standard and very roomy. There is a very good shop in the village selling excellent bread. For evening meals try the Red Lion at Chalton for good reasonbly priced food.

Good firm bed, spacious bathroom, shower was fine, kitchen slightly bijou, water always piping hot - be careful. Excellent location to base a walking holiday. Good local shop a few hundred yards down the road. Rob, the owner, very pleasant, respected our privacy. Decent washing machine.

We stayed at the Plough Shed with our 14 month old daughter. The accommodation was family friendly, a high chair was provided, and we opted to take our own travel cot but the owners would provide one. There was a fire guard installed and we enjoyed using the log burner. The cottage was well equipped for self catering, it was warm and cosy, and deceptively large. Plenty of space in the bedroom for the travel cot and the living room was a very good size. The cottage is really close to a well stocked village shop and tea room in a beautiful location. It says on the website that there is a pond, this is situated behind the property and is fenced, so don't let that put you off booking for safety reasons. We would definitely return. It was a friends wedding that took us to the area, and we are pleased that gave us the excuse to visit. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Thanks to them for a great stay.

Cosy, clean, tidy, comfortable, and with everything needed for a convenient stay. Lovely quiet location, handy for the South Downs Way. Historic Uppark Estate just down the road. Owner helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Well-stocked local shop at the bottom of the road. Ideal for our three-day break!

Cottage was quite cold as there was a cold wind through the property, not very well insulated. Carpets were not very clean and we even found a dirty diaper under the coffee table. Location was nice and tea shop next door was lovely.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. We were surprised to hear that you thought the carpets at the property were unclean and that you found a dirty diaper under the coffee table, the carpets at the property were brand new and the last two parties at the property prior to yourselves did not have children with them. We have also recently re-insulated the property and we did show you how to override the night storage heaters to provide extra heat if required, our guests routinely comment on how warm and cosy they find the property.

Had a fantastic stay at The Plough Shed. Spacious accommodation, well equipped. Only thing I would change would be having a larger TV maybe, bit small. Location was lovely . Great area for walking.

I booked this cottage for its location, which did not disappoint. There are wonderful walks on your doorstep and the National Trust property, Uppark, is nearby. However I did miss having my own little garden and was not tempted to sit out at the front of the cottage, despite chairs and a table, as the view was of other people's cars as well as my own. Behind the cottage you can sit near the pond and look at the geese and hens which was lovely and a real sun trap, but not quite the same as a private space. Everything was clean when I arrived but the cottage was extremely cold. This was because the temperature had dropped suddenly and the previous guests had turned off all the storage heaters. However I lit a fire in the log burner and shortly afterwards Rob arrived to ask if I was warm enough, and put the heaters into override to provide extra warmth. I think storage heaters are a disadvantage though as I had to turn them all off again later in my stay when the temperature rose drastically. There was plenty of kitchen equipment for my needs. The shower was roomy and easy to use though not very powerful. Unfortunately the bed is not at all firm which was not great for me as a back sufferer but after a day out walking I found I slept well as long as I was right on the edge of the bed! I also tended to find myself falling asleep on the sofa after so much fresh air and exercise. There is plenty of space in the cottage and it is well lit. The first full day of my holiday was wet but Chichester is only a short drive away and when the weather cleared I went to Bosham, both places I remember well from childhood. I watched the Chichester cathedral peregrines on the nest cam provided by the RSPB. The most enjoyable walk I did was over Compton Down where there are spectacular views, though the booklet of routes which I picked up was slightly dubious - good to take a map as well. The village shop/teashop is highly recommended for soup, artisan bread and cake!

Used as a base for walking, visiting friends and visiting the Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth, this was an excellent choice.
