This was our second stay at The Barn - the first was a much-needed week's break, this time I was doing research for my next book at the West Sussex Record Office in Chichester - and both stays have been very enjoyable. The Barn is very cosy in winter and visitors get a warm welcome from Rob, who is always very helpful. Set in the peaceful countryside of the South Downs National Park, on the edge of the delightful village of Compton, the area is somewhat less crowded than the traffic-choked part of Kent we live in and that makes a welcome change, though it is just an hour and a half's drive away. There are lovely walks all around and very friendly people. Chichester is a fine small city, though we couldn't help noticing how much its elderly inhabitants drink at lunch time! But perhaps that explains why they are more relaxed and friendly than the buttoned-up inhabitants of our own town.

Could do with a deep clean, the TV needs to be bigger and the second one was missing.

Can't say much more than we will be going back.

Excellent self contained base for the last 6 days of our completing The South Downs Way. The barn was beautifully converted and was comfy and well equipped. What more can you need. just a pity that we got back each day after the Village Shop had shut so we missed out on the tea and cake!
