Quiet location, needing a fair drive to have a choice of eating venues. We drove three times to eat at The Three Wheat Heads at Thropton, some 12 miles away. Food there was really good, especially the 'sizzlers' menu. The Redesdale Hotel was also very good, some 4 miles through Otterburn. The pub in Otterburn, The Lord Percy, is closed. Lots of places to visit, Kielder Forest, Crag Side, Belsay Hall, and Bambugh Castle all good. Alnwick is expensive and filled with kids because of the Harry Potter connection. The gardens were OK though. The Cobweb cottage was ideal for our needs. The lounge sofas not very comfy though.
